Dodged a bullet o_O; by Zannah
o_O; So, um, last time I had a job interview, I ended up turning the place down before the interview itself, because the location I would be working was a frame shop warehouse in a southside Chicago ghetto. I felt a little bad about skipping out on the interview, but it seems like I really did dodge a bullet by not taking that job. Literally.
The owner of that gallery/warehouse was murdered today outside that selfsame workshop, in broad daylight. A car full of thugs shot him to death and robbed the shop. I am SO glad I turned that interview down. x.x

It's really very nice out in the suburbs where I live, but the southside is... Bad. I'd driven out to the workshop the day before my interview to get a feel for the commute and the neighborhood. Bars on all the windows, and drug deals going down openly on the corners. x.x I called to cancel the interview after I got home.

Survival of the fittest/smartest, for better or worse. ^^; I'm not terribly familiar with Chicago but I have spent a whole month in the middle of downtown, like around Michigan Avenue (so all the big hotels and shopping and stuff I suppose). Just kinda stayed put though since we were in the city and not out in the suburbs, which we've driven through on trips there when I was a teen. The suburbs can be pretty nice indeed.
