So this one VGA to HDMI Adapter doesn't work by QTMelon

So since I have a laptop with a VGA output, I used to use a Sewell hammerhead until the port for the USB broke off. I use it for my Cintiq. It still works but unplugging it presented a problem with power because it would cause the laptop to boot. I found the piece inside the unit and I have it pressured against the ports so that it works still.

I purchased http://www.amazon.com/Etekcity®-Converter-Transmission-High-Quality-Processing/dp/B00EV6AARC as a replacement...and it doesn't work well. I see basically ghosting images instead of a clear picture. I tried numerous settings to try to get a clear image but it doesn't work for me.

So, I'm back to ordering another Sewell so I can get the signal I need. It's been rather annoying and I will probably do a laptop upgrade sometime even though that means I will probably have to go with Windows 8.

It has been storming the past few days which is good since I'm out in droughtland.

I also got a color meter for my devices. The results are decent, but it seems I need to adjust for more Black point compensation since it wants to make my blacks more grey. Other than that I am finally trying to fix the color shifting between various monitors and my Cintiq 13HD

I apologize if I'm boring. I just wanted to give an update...

Really? Unplugging it made the laptop reboot? That is crazy!

And you are not boring at all! You are a champ!

Sounds like the laptop's VGA port is shorting out, but the ghosting is probably a result of less-than-quality shielding on the little VGA dongle they give you. That or the internal solder joints are damaged, which would suck.

Since HDMI is drawing power for audio and video it is why you need to keep the USB port in. It's drawing power for both options which is definitely not enough for VGA to handle. I should be getting the new Sewell soon. So I'll be happy.

ghosting can be caused of it comprises the signal with is a travesty for one wants a good image quality..

btw you dont use the cintiq on you pc or was that a bit constricting?

as colour calibration that is something i need to study more myself
