On Muscles in art by LudoCrow

Also, since one of my current offline coms involves monsterified/powered-up versions of a couple of people's fursonas, I felt this might be useful for a couple of people:

Seriously folks, when drawing muscles art or such.... at least TRY to have a little bit of respect for basic anatomy. I don't mind so much people being drawn with "bigger muscles, bigger!" but at least try not to invent muscles where they are not.

Also, have some respect for the kind of muscle you're going for. A lot of people fail to realizes that Mr.Universe with saran wrap skin wrapped around his muscles is -really- not that much strong and would be plastered by a bona fide "Strong man" when it comes to actual raw strength(in fact, even with strong muscles that looks is basically achieved by the "mr.universe" wanna-be basically starving and dehydrating themselves such that they are actually at their -weakest- when on show).

Also, having been very close from the Timbersports community since forever thanks to my family, this is still my favorite line from that tutorial from all the people I've know in RL with such musculatures:

"THIS IS THE BODY OF A GUY WHO FIGHT BEARS ON A MOUNTAIN!"

I'm kinda lucky in that I tend to just want everything fat, and that's easier than muscle to whatever, but this is still a really helpful link! Thanks!

Very good points, and very useful guide! I see too many 'muscular' characters that seem to be 'Draw x lumps here to make super big guy' in design.

This is one of my favorite tutorials. I don't even draw muscle-y dudes, but the artist commentary is a good giggle.

      It is!
It's really part of why I love this tutorial most :)
