Furry Fiesta in Review by Buckdasystem

So...BACK FROM FURRY FIESTA THING, and here is after con story time review.

Yes it was very fun, and wow was the attendance much higher than I expected. Most definitely the fursuit parade was a lot longer than previously...tho it might also be partially due to the fact that the con hotel had no "legit" staircases.

So yes, lets take away from the bad, because it is so easy to focus on: To start with, this year was the first year at the new hotel...and ho boy, were they vastly unprepared. Elevators down and slow, rooms sorely overbooked, not enough hotel staff around (I don't think I saw a single bellboy), and the hot water ran out some mornings/evenings. The con itself was a little short on staff as well, not expecting the massive turnout. So security was a little on the "lax" side, but at least there were no incidents (Texas Furries tend to be well behaved).

Now onto the rest:
I spent most of the con attached to Neopagan: and being brought around to stuff with OceanOtter who we've collectively renamed, "The Briney Dickweasel". There was a massive collection of new and interesting panels for the con, did miss a few tho due to sleep-ins or group meals. The most disappointing one to miss was the "Furzilla City Stomp"- a new, experimental panel where staff sets up a cardboard city for fursuiters to romp around in. The turnout went way above expected and the poor city of Corrugate lasted about 2 minutes.

For food and amenities, yes I live in the area so I kinda know what is expected, but other people we dragged along so pleasantly enjoyed the multitude of good, affordable restaurants and snacks in the area. Will say this con is currently in one of the best locations for a con to be in. At least until population exceeds about 3000 (need a new hotel at that point).

Did finally end up playing Betrayal at House on the Hill with Neopagan, Briney Dickweasel, and Bersl. After a lengthy exploration phase and his sudden but inevitable betrayal, Neo's plans for world domination by summoning demons through a portal of hell was foiled by a plucky child (played by Dickweasel) beating them down with a flashlight and a track star banishing them with a cross and a holy ring.

But Neo got his revenge in billiards later by wasting everyone at pool...IN FURSUIT. Pool dragoning became the new term for what he did.

Met quite a few people at the con, was disappointed a bit in the Artist alley/Dealer's Den turnout as it felt there were a BUNCH more item dealers than drawing artists this year. So yeah, didn't find as many artists I wanted to commission, but I did order a few things.

Also shout out to people I met at the con, no I cannot remember you all, and some of you I didn't even catch the name of.

Hope to see everyone later at next year's con and looking forward to trying to participate in the stuff for next year's theme: Toon City. Also, thank you cons again, for giving me Fursuit envy again..YES LOOKING FOR FURSUIT CRAP AGAIN DAMMIT- I give up. Laters everyone.
