No Roommate for March 1st yet... stress!! by Kittiara
Been posting all sorts of places trying to find a roommate for March 1st, and no luck yet. Only one person eventually came to see the place and while I thought we had agreed to move forward this weekend, I haven't heard back since. Two others scheduled, then canceled outright...
I'm incredibly stressed; I'm putting a lot of time into searching/spreading the word and prepping the apartment in case miraculously somebody DOES move in.
But I'm almost convinced that myself and my partner will be footing the bill for March; since my partner and I are long distance after her move, it seems so unfair that she must help me pay for another month she's not living here.
I figured March would be a weird time to find a roommate, but I never anticipated it being this bad.

I pretty much hadn't mentioned anything on my furry locations, don't be sorry! I'm outside of Boston in Jamaica Plain area.

Well blubber. I know Matt Ebel is moving, but I think he already has a place lined up. I will keep my ears open, in case I know of anyone in that area (don't worry I won't send you randoms or peeps I know are trouble :P )

oh man :/ I don't know where you live, but I'm always CRAWLING with roommate requests when I rent rooms. I have a 4 bedroom house, so I'm renting frequently.
Maybe it's the way your ad is written? Finding roommates can be a pain, really. I don't envy you, but wish you the best of luck!!-
It may actually be that I said "gay friendly" and that I'm queer? I have almost entirely gotten responses from other gays or gay couples so perhaps it's being taken literally...? No idea.
Otherwise it's worded/has a bullet point list of attractions much like the other ads I've read and we used to post for my old place, which was always popular. So confused". March may just not be a moving kind of month around here! Boston is notorious for having leases all at the same times.

March has always been an OK month for me, except that I would get a lot of temporary students, or prospective "Only here for the summer!" people.
I feel that if gay friendly turns people away, that's probably someone you wouldn't want living there.
Maybe it's the photos, too? We always try and make ours look really homey, but at the same time try and be very specific about the type of person we want. I describe just enough to make it sound eccentric and cute, but not enough to make it boring. I also try and really REALLY REALLY express how boring it is where I live, because I actually have people ALL THE TIME move in expecting it to be fun, hate living here, and move out in 3 months x3 (I live on an island, but there's NOTHING here, so that's very special to my location).Good luck. Repost the ad, because maybe you were just unlucky and happened to post at a bad time. Otherwise, you might be able to find someone for the beginning to middle of March so you get some of your rent refunded.

I've hit pretty much all the points you mention! The photos are beautifully lit, too, caught at that golden hour. And if I do say so myself, my penchant for house plants makes things look quite nice, quite nice... but I had two more responses today so it seems that things may work out in the end, plus I renew the ad as often as Craigslist will allow it... that should be coming up right about... now, actually!

Oh, you might mention that the "T" stops nearby, think it goes by Jamaica Plain? Might try posting to MIT student bbs's as well, if you can handle those MIT types. :D
