anthrocon rooming, perhaps? by EmilyThePenguin

I know it is a while away, but I need to start planning soon.
I am planning on rooming with viscosity and he's been really looking forward to this for a long time. I thought I would try Weasyl first because the community here is so sweet and friendly (er, so far! I'm pretty new here)

If it is just him and I, we'd have to be splitting the room price in half... but if we had three people, that is broken into thirds... and if a fourth person showed up we could save lots of money! It is simple, really
Considering I wouldn't want to leave the convention in debt... we're really hoping for more people to room with..

truth be told I don't have many friends in this fandom, and my best buddy in this fandom has no way of coming to this AC... kind of a big bummer, I'd love to meet him.

I'm not super keen on rooming with complete strangers (friends would be another deal c: ), but if there are some others that are unsure of Anthrcon 2014 and might be able to... let me know!

Even though I already got my room. Do you have details on Which Hotel Your Staying at? and What nights? Also if you got a double-double room or a king room?

I'm.. honestly not sure <:{ whatever is cheapest and isn't TOO far away from all the fun. I have yet to go to a fur con, and I've only been to one convention in general... for one day :I SO.
I don't have much experience, which is alright. At least I know what to NOT do next time for a convention, the family I went with for Sakura Con was horrible at planning

Since I'm assuming you kind of know what you're doing... do you have any advice? I haven't even bought the room or ticket or anything...
I'm looking to not break the bank with this one, but I'm aware I will have to spend upwards of $400 just for the plane. (Montana is pretty far away from Pittsburg!)

I heard lots of good reviews about the Omni William Penn from past con goers. It's a Short 3 block Walk to the Con. Also there's a hotel on the riverfront which is a new hotel for AC Room Blocks, it's the Renaissance Hotel just as far from the Con as the Omni with a nice Riverfront Walk to get to the con or you can walk Penn Ave. If your Lucky Enough to get a riverview room at the Renaissance looking towards the point. It would be a perfect spot to watch the awesome July 4th Firework display that have on the river there. Now the most expensive hotel but probally well worth it is the Hampton and they have Free Breakfast and Free Parking (If your Driving to the Con this is a huge perk as parking at the convention center will cost you big money) and is a relativity short walk to the con, also Hampton as of right now still has suites available for $209 a night plus tax.

Now the cheap Hotel Options is the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh Downtown which is almost a mile away form the Convention Center. If you like walking long distances to the con this would be your choice and the Marriott Pittsburgh City Center is not a much better choice either. Now the best value for Cheap Hotel Options is the DoubleTree but it's still a good walk to the Convention Center but it's a favorite among the con goers on a Budget.

Now if your looking for Roomies or Looking to Crash With Someone the AC Fourms is a good place to look:

oh wow, thank you for all that information! That's really useful! I sure hope I can put it to use <:} I don't think anyone knows how anxious I am about this, because I have a fear that I really won't be able to go.

I'm a bit hesitant to go on the forums unless it is a last minute plan, considering I'll be just turning 18 two months before the con. I'd prefer to find someone I at least semi-recognize here on Weasyl or FA.
