One Little Victory: Canada at Sochi by The Incredible G

(Title inspired by the Canadian rock trio, Rush.)

We had a good run, eh?

But to be honest, it was a good run not just for athletes, it was a good run for fans, staff, family members & friends. Truthfully, none of those athletes would be there without this support system. Even the government is part of it. Sports grants for parents & athletes alike, insuring current & future performers get the chance to be successful regardless of where they go.

Everything we do as Canadians has been summed up in this last hurrah, the men & women of curling & hockey rising to the occasion & proving just how tough & determined us Canucks are.

But I wouldn't be a true Canadian without acknowledging the other countries who challenged us & made our athletes reach farther then most of them could ever dream. The United States & Sweden did exactly that. If there's anything us Canadians appreciate, it's a good challenge. The world is full of challenges. We are the ones who answer the call.

Just the chance to be there, regardless if our sportsmen & sports-ladies win Gold Silver, Bronze or end up placing beyond that, is an honour. Give us a shot & we'll do our best. Just being there is a win for us fans.

Walk with heads high, Canadian athletes. You made us all feel that much more proud... Even if we had to get up really early to watch you do so. No complaints here :-) !

10 Gold, 10 Silver, and 5 Bronze medals is a very amazing achievement. I know Canada was expecting at least 30 medals, but the quality of medals is very high. US has 12 bronzes, making more than a third of their total medal count. In all it was a very amazing Olympics.

    Hooray Canada!!!!

Totally! Got up at 5am on Sunday to watch the men's hockey finals.

I saw that and I saw how the woman's hockey came from behind the last two minutes, and scored enough goals to make it to overtime, and scored the winning goal in overtime. If I remember correctly, the women's hockey did something very similar in the Vancouver Olympics to win the gold medal.
