It's very important to me and a lot of my friends.
I've always been genderqueer and it's taken me until only about a year ago to understand exactly what that means and where I fall on the spectrum. I know there are many others out there who struggle for just a shred of respect and recognition in their everyday life.
Ehh I dunno about that though. Nonbinary and trans people still wish to be recognized by gender. The issue is they are often not recognized as the gender they -are-, only what the general public/government perceive them to be.
I do feel that in some cases, being forced to identify our gender is unnecessary. I've filled out a lot of forms that just made me think "Well, this is ridiculous" when I reached the gender selection part. You can only choose Male or Female, and most of the time it's completely irrelevant to what I'm applying for (why should my gender matter for a gym membership? Or even in applying for a job, if one of the laws is to NOT discriminate employees based on gender?).

The link does not function! You need one without all the periods in it, I suspect.
