NSFW? Your thoughts and where you want it. by Fablepaint
Hey so in the interest of differentiating my Weasyl account from my DA and my Tumblr (because I'm not fond of cross-posting and making every gallery the very same), I'm thinking of uploading NSFW material here. I used to do that on FA since there's a pretty liberal NSFW atmosphere there and I've seen similar attitudes here too. However, if that's not really what folks here are looking for, I can just continue to direct people to my erotica blog instead.
What's your feeling? Do you upload NSFW here? Does it have a place in the community here?

That's what I've seen. Like on DA, NSFW is more "ehhhhh" unless it's erotic photography (for some reason there's a VERY open relationship to erotic photography on DA, but not drawn work?) It's one reason why I tell you folks in group "just mind DA's rules", except because they're a bit flibbety and there's some community expectations on DA that don't match what the TOS says strictly. Weasyl people seem pretty open about drawn NSFW since this is primarily not a photography site. DA is like 90% photos. And Tumblr is, well Tumblr is the Wild West.

Yeah, I avoid posting much nsfw to DA, excluding gore but even then it's sometimes borderline 'would people not react to this very well'. And it does seem to have a ton more photos than art - though even with that I see people complaining about all the nudes that get uploaded there. I consider DA the most.. sfw site I go on probably? I mean it has it's fair share of stuff but I don't feel very comfortable in posting any kind of NSFW there as much as I do on FA or on here.
I'm pretty sure that you can search anything on tumblr and find something at least vaguely nsfw in that tag. And FA is almost the same with that too aha. I think Weasyl is pretty relaxed about everything.(also thank you for that follow! Definitely something I was surprised to see in my inbox aha)

Yeah, I kind of like how NSFW is allowed freely here and at the same time restricts minors or new-ish people from seeing it. DA is like... I don't even know.

DA is kinda all over the map. I can find explicit pics of genitalia but people get wiggy about drawn. Or at least that's my impression.

I've been a bit conflicted in wanting to approach this myself. In the end I decided to compromise my sensibilities and set up an alternate account, though I doubt Weasyls will mind if you went ahead and posted your NSFW here. One solution could be posting it in a separate folder and tagging.

Aye. I gots it in a separate folder here for the bits I've already put up. And I tag it. Because I know if I was browsing a gallery (even though I'm cool with NSFW or are sometimes actively looking for it), it's not something I'd personally want front and center without the option to nix it from view. Since you know, sometimes you're in a public area and people can see the screen. Or maybe something sensitive happened and you just don't want to deal right then.

I appreciated stuff being in a separate folder if its gory or explicit , but I generally am too lazy to bother with anything aside from a NSFW tag or maturity warning XD

I am not sure what NSFW is but from people's responses I would assume something sexual? I personally like this site as more like DA but without all the stupid crap and commercials, and clutter, and more furry friendly. FA seems much more strictly fetish, and it seems to be more about the actual art here, so personally I'd like to see more of your graphic novel, animation, and non sexual art here.

NSFW = Not Safe For Work. So basically anything you wouldn't want your boss seeing over your shoulder.

Ah yea. I'd rather your gallery here be not so much of that but that's just my personal preference as I hardly EVER like that stuff haha. I just rarely go on DA anymore, and FA to me is more the site for that. This seems like DA without the clutter, clicks, massive ammounts of fanart, and more furry friendly (less flamey) but more about the art and commissions. A lot of my other friends that DO do porn etc, said that they wanted to use weasyl as sort of a fresh start and clean gallery and only leave that stuff on FA which even has fetish categories, so seems more suited to the NSFW in my opinion. Obviously this site has mature restrictions, but I turned off the mature filter on mine because I was missing funny and awesome art, simply because it had curse words in it, which I personally don't care about, but then I'd wind up seeing more PRON related stuff because its also of the same filter.. so blah.. hahah.

I'm no longer using my FA gallery so it's not really an option for me if I wish to upload gore/sexual art. I've left that site.

Ah. Makes sense. From your standpoint I'd get why this one would be better than DA for that, if you aren't on FA at all. I have considered leaving FA but have too many followers over there that I'm not sure what to make the jump yet, plus I have more watchers on the more commissiony slightly fetishy stuff albeit clean, and hardly any on my main gallery for regular art so I am going to eventually shut down my non commission gallery over there and just do all that stuff here I think. DA for me has gotten pretty dead. It just takes so long to have to join groups and submit one art piece to a ton of groups to get followers and renetwork etc amidst the clutter. I love your art regardless, just that's just not my thing. Sadly its hard to tell from thumbnails also.. not fond of their thumbnail system on here.

Aye, I'd tag it and keep it in the appropriate folders simply because I know I'd appreciate the same. Also like, if someone is looking for that specifically, now they know where to go! So it's a courtesy for those on both sides of the fence :D

I think NSFW would be fine here. I see people posting it often and sometimes post it myself (though I put it in a scraps folder a lot of the time).
