I heard that movie was done entirely in Legos, including the sets. Does this mean that there's no CG effects or is it all CG but with Legos?

It was a mix, I believe, of CG and real Lego. I couldn't tell you a hundred percent for sure which was which at any given point.

Lego is so branched out, I can't really tell what it is anymore, but I might be missing the point. It's not the same thing as I grew up sure, but the whole idea was that could be ANYTHING. I might give this movie a shot. Thanks for the tip.

The movie actually plays with that, as it happens. The sheer number of franchises and genres that are now part of the Lego brand is both a recurring gag and an integral part of the story.
