"This is Why We Fursuit" by Epitome Fox

At a my first fur con, there was a fursuit story hour on the last day. I decided to attend. There were many good stories, some funny, some touching, but the last story I heard hit me the hardest.
This girl comes up to the front, and she's in her suit. She tells this story: She was st an event in a park one day, and there was a group of 5th graders on a feild trip. She was suiting. The kids were curious and she was interacting with them for a bit, then she saw a young girl in a wheelchair under a tree with her two aids. She approached them, and they explained that the girl had cerebral palsy. After talking a little more, they say that the girl had not smiled in over a month, and had not laughed in over a year. The girl took notice of the suit and began to pet the fur on the sleeve. The suitor started playing and interacting with her, and slowly the child begins to smile. After a little while, she began to laugh for the first time in over a year. The speaker went on to say, "that's why we fursuit, we do it to make people smile, because you never know how you're going to impact them, or who really needs some joy brought into their day." After the event, I went up to her, she was still crying fromm telling the story, and I told her it really touched me, and that I had a specia needs brother, and then we were just hugging and sobbing.
