So i see this place catching on by Meredies

Ive seen plenty of Art sites try to get started but i have to say out of all of them i can see this one going past Beta and becoming popular. I love the layout- its fun, well set up and already everyone is flocking here- which is a good sign. A nice refreshing change from Deviantart and Furaffinity i must say- so im looking forward to seeing how the site grows (:

So i see this place catching on

I agree. I've been searching for an art site to replace DeviantART since it started going down hill. Fur Affinity is great, but I like having an extra site that has more variety besides furry / anthro art and artists. I hope Weasyl works out, because the layout, tools and even uploading is quick, easy, and navigable. There isn't baggage.

I like Fur but in my opinion its not professional looking at all like deviantart is (who's layout i honestly think is ugly now a days) - i like having a site i can give to people that looks professional, and so far, Weasyl is doing a good job at looking sharp. Ive been telling myself for years that if fur was going to add a banner, they should AT LEAST make it stretch across the entire page- rather then just in a tiny corner. I took web design classes and well, im just picky in general- its always bothered me and makes the site look way trashy and not aesthetically pleasing at all. I found it funny that when they updated the site, they made everything else look nice, but did NOTHING with their banner or add placement, so the site still looked terrible despite the update. I LOVED that this site lets you have your own banner, and low and behold. it stretches across the whole page as a banner is intended to!

a few things id like to see here is bigger thumbnail or full size image viewing options- and a few minor little aesthetic things- other then that, i love it

I agree. I don't have a professional web page only for my art and often feel wary handing out my FA. This is because of what you've said (its appearance), and the fact that its a furry based site. The people who ask for a gallery of my work are often not familiar with furries, and may attach a stigma to them as well. :/

I also love the feature of customizing the page with an all-across banner. I am not as educated with graphic design or web design, but I know where you are coming from. I enjoy web pages that have continuity but still allow for slight customization. Regarding DeviantART, I absolutely dislike how much a user can customize their page to the point where they become complete eye sores.

Gosh i know right- sometimes ill go onto someones page and ill just be blinded by flashy colors, a 1

        • Link

*flashy colors, a 100 stamps and 5 gifs of completely irrelevant inmature things. It's what deviantart is- a site for YOUNG artists in my opinion, and it really really shows. Though i like customization, sometimes it goes a little too fair, specially with deviantart, where most pages look like something a unicorn barfed up.

Yes! I especially dislike it because it slows down my computer as well, with the gifs and everything else it needs to load. Ahh~ I really hope Weasyl becomes a new, better place for artists to be that will stick around for some time.

    Haha yeyeye

Also if you have any ideas how to improve the site or catch any bugs, let those know on the forums or come to me about it!! <33

OHHO your admin are ya? this is good news- but yes other then the very bright border around the userpage icons and the inability to have our submissions show up full view (Lundi was more bothered by this then i was, i dont mind that people have to hit download honestly haha) but other then that i don't have any complaints as of yet (:

Thanks for the input. The fullview is in the works and is included in the public TO DO LIST on the forums. Things look swell as it, not many hiccups and everything is going pretty sailingly as we implement all the things we want to in order to make the site as optimized as possible while taking ideas from users we didn't quite think of ourselves!

        • Link

Yea i told Lundi that because the site is in Beta that the full view thing was something that would likely come later - im excited to see what happens with all the new things

I fell in love when I learned about Weasyl over the summer : ' )

I love their set up for commission information and prices, the layout is gorgeous and with the various art styles besides furry art it really is just refreshing to even look at. Ive never been much of a fan for FA aside from the fact that it has a huge consumer base for freelance/professional artist (unlike Deviantart) but it looks unprofessional so sharing my gallery was somewhat uncomfortable as I wish to have been presented in a more professional manner outside of my website. I just hope customers aren't scared away by how professional it is or the fact that they don't feel welcome here (I was sad to hear this from someone). Ether way im happy I have a place to display my art an view other peoples art in all the glory it has.

I cant wait to see what changes come when Weasyl is out of Beta, Im excited and a little scared haha.

Yea like honestly i do love fa because of the HUGE consumer market there- like i have twice the amount of watchers on da and have been there twice as long, and ive only gotten like one or two commissions from there since i opened them- the others were all from Fa. Im excited to see what they do with the site but im glad to finally see an art site starting that i actually have high hopes for-

There are still a lot of things here I have no idea how to do but I like it here a lot. I love how simple the submission process is. It doesn't make putting up new art in bulk a pain. ♥

    • Link

it does make it really easy- it took me like under 30 minutes to upload like 20 things

      • Link

Mhmm, a lot of sites could learn from this lol. Thats the main reason I don't like DA. I don't need 130 submission categories to upload something..

  • Link

I totally agree. Theres a few things here that still need fixing but it has the most potential out of all the art sites ive seen try to take off! I hope it works out!

      defiantly- so far so good
