Oregon Snowpocalypse by HornetV2

Greetings!

Well, as you may or may not heard, we are getting hammered with snow here (Portland, Salem, Albany, Eugene, Vancouver WA and everything in between). Right here where I live we have like a good 8 inches and still snowing out there.

For the record, yes, this area is usually cold and rainy, but down in the valley we rarely get this much snow. Usually we get at the most an inch on 1 or 2 days of random snow that washes away pretty fast. Last time we had this much snow was back in December 2008. So yeah, Portland is an entire chaos right now, there were 2 pileups on I-5 and pretty much yes, it's all paralyzed here.

My own snow shenanigans started on Thursday, at our usual work meet, many phone calls checking here and there, and the supervisor ordered that if snow starts, work will be cancelled rest of day and will be on consideration the upcoming days. So at noon, I sent everyone to lunch and that was when a little of snow started in Portland, by this time everywhere around was already covered on it. My supervisor gave the order that the jobsite was shut down rest of day, so I sent everyone home. I stopped at the office to do some paperwork but was not much time left before Clackamas got also hit hard with snow. Made it home safely at 2 PM, and my car slipped a few times so I activated the 4x4 power! Wee!

Friday I woke up at 5 to check weather and such. Roads were hazardous and although the sky was clear, we were expecting Winter storm number 2. At around 6 AM got an email from my supervisor that work was cancelled Friday and Saturday. I notified all my crew and eh, not much to do. I was supposed to meet my uncle at the office, but his place got hit harder and he could not get out, so activities cancelled that day. Yet, since it was clear I decided to venture to Gresham. Needed to buy some supplies and get a haircut. In the way filled my gas tank just to be safe. So at the hair salon, it seemed closed, until I saw someone moving inside, I came in and there was only one stylist, who was a bit frustrated for being at work that day. She told me "Who get's a haircut on a snow day anyways?" Apparently I'm the only crazy one that does that. So, anyways, she knows me and I know her, she has cut my hair before and always does her job excellent. That day was not the exception, and just because she seemed really frustrated and I am pretty sure she wont get more people that day, I left her a $10 tip. Shen she saw that she could not help but smile in relief, she said that this made her snow day really worth it. It gave me a sense of satisfaction and she's really nice, so it felt good do a good deed on the day.

And well, Mr. Charlie, he's been digging around snow like crazy. The guy loves snow, but ends up extremely tired on our snow walks, and after a while he even can't take the cold so we go back in where I dry him up and he climbs on the couch and curls to keep himself warm and comfty. X3

And well, today. I woke up expecting better weather, but nope! Saturday: Snow storm number 3! I had my appointment to file my taxes today and got a phone call that it was cancelled due to safety concerns, so I had to call off my second appointment (something personal you'll find out later) and apparently these people didn't even open their place, can't blame them with this weather. So officially all my weekend plans are entirely cancelled, my second appointment, if weather allows, will take care of it tomorrow. Meanwhile we are here stranded, we got food and booze, Charlie has food as well so we're good for the time being.

Snow is expected to stop today, but then we have rain and that may get dangerous if it starts freezing. So next couple days will be interesting. Last snow storm we skipped work for over a week, considering it was during the December holidays, that made 2 weeks of no work. So far we got 2 days and let's see how many more. So meanwhile, I'm doodling retarded Mudkipz and fursuit building! So no time lost for me after all hehe. X3

So that's how we in Oregon are right now. Freaking Seattle is shiny and warm :p But that's my update for today. Now if you excuse me, I'll go grab a beer from the beer filled cooler and watch me some Archer.

PS: YOU'RE NOT MY SUPERVISOR!
