Tags? by kamicheetah
I am actually curious is there a list of some kind that have the commonly used tags for furry stuff or adult stuff? I mean, I know that stuff can be split so finely based on content but is there some kind of hard fast 'this is what you use for this' stuff?

Makes me wish there was a quick tag or frequent tags system on here. On FA you can save them elsewhere and then paste into the basic text box, but Weasyl's specially formatted input method makes that impossible - gotta do them one at a time.

My only thought is to look at something like e621 and go off of that, but their tags can be SO specific.

Well, they can be so specific but also that 'tag what you see' thing is a bit flawed specially if someone mistakes something because of misinterpretation. But I digress. I'm not sure I will go so far as to tag something down to the minute details but some obvious stuff like species, gender, maybe a clothing item? But not 'hair in bun' 'blue eyes' 'teeth showing' that kinda stuff, haha.

There isnt a common list really yet, but its been suggested on the forums to have a list of things in the database and have it give a list as your typing.
I am sure there will be an update to that in the future. The biggest concern for a lot of people right now is that there is no approval/decline method when people just randomly add tags to your work. Abuse of the tagging system could happen, people adding tags that you dont approve of being apart of your picture, etc. (This issue is on e621 a lot i find) Hopefully there will be a remedy to a lot of these things in the future : )-
Thank you for the links! Mostly, I didn't want to be posting stuff and unintentionally using the wrong tags for stuff when there's a recommended list of commons somewhere. As far as folks mi-labeling the tags, I saw the feature that disallows folks removing MY tags off my own images, hahah you think it would be the other way around.. <XD

Yeah XD There have been a lot of suggestions. Hopefully they will get an option to allow people to add tags, but you have the power to approve/reject them. Instead of it being automatic. *oh boy can i smell the abuse that will happen at some point. Not looking forward tot he forum being spammed with "ermagerd ppl be abusin mah tags!" That should be fun.* So far so good though.
I'm definitely liking it here though. They actually want to hear what we have to say, and things have been improving rapidly since i've been here : )
We shall see how it goes. The biggest thing right now is essentially tagging it for what it is and what you see in the image. Whatever tags you feel are relevant. ^^

I'm probably going to slap a text file down at some point full of words that are like. Thresaurusized. Soo that I can just copy/paste every pertinent tag ever until someone starts complaining about.
As for people talking about e621 and it being "bad", you can dispute the tags and their tagging system is probably one of the most robust, but it took a lot of work to establish all the related words, main words, associations, artist tags, CHARACTER TAGS and all those cross-referenced definitions for tags.
It'll take a lot of effort to create a good search/sorting engine.

It is bad though, but not because of the words. It's people mis-labeling and then it needing to be contested. For example, folks labeling something as a boy when it's not and then it being corrected and someone going back and relabeling it 'boy' because they think it looks like a boy therefore it is a boy. Or saying something's a rabbit because it has long ears when it might not be. hahaha It gets messy.

It's sadly a lot of :effort: to make it work how we want it to work, fighting with definitions to come up with a consensus, even if it's something SILLY, like converting "boy" to "trap" in that specific case hahaahah

Yeah, I could see it being a lot of work if you have to do that for EACH case. I just don't think that kind of system would work over here specially when folks are given to option to let others remove their tags but they(I'm guessing) can't do that to added tags.

"Furry" and "Anthro" seem to be pretty standard on every furry piece, if that helps!

I don't think there's a list but the idea is to put as many tags as necessary to make the best of the tag filtering! :3
I generally make sure to tag everything furry as furry and anthro, and everything adult as adult and/or porn and everything fetishy as fetishy eheh :)
