Just finished a brilliantly written horror film called "The Bay"
It is a found footage genre film but doesn't rely of the supernatural or monsters to tell the story, instead the threat is terrifyingly possible, a parasitic creature called an isopod, one of the oldest species on earth. Hormones used to help chickens grow faster leaked in the bay and made these normally small creatures grow faster that normal and breed faster. This movie isn't for the easily disturbed as it shows the true horror as the parasite slowly kills most of a small town on the Fourth of July. For the most par I despise movies that have children die in them but I must say if they didn't do that in this film it would of seemed like any other mutant parasite film, while it is in the film a child never died on screen but they didn't sugar coat it, in fact they make you have to admit to yourself that no one infected was spared. I have the same feeling towards kids in zombie flicks, if no zombie kids are seen it loses it's realism and therefor it's terror. I give this film ten out of ten stars for actually making me for one hour and twenty five minutes part of an event that kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what will happen next without resorting to cheap scares and unbelievable scenes of terror, if your a fan of horror I recommend you watch The Bay, it is currently on Netflix
Unlike other horror movies I have seen on Netflix this is one film I would love to have part of my collection
