Made myself a shiny new banner! I'm quite proud of those dumb pheasants and I'd rather new people see that than my silly owl sona.
BUT ANYWAY, I'm curious to what all of you do! There are so many talented artists on here that I know for a fact have a non-art related career, so I'm interested to what all you guys do instead, and why!
I'm currently a student! I study English Lit (I finish in the summer) and I'm gonna go into teaching, and I also work retail part time.
Ohhh man coffee shops can be so stressful to work, props to you for doing that! Good on you for sticking with it and best of luck with finding art related work! These sort of things come to you in time I suppose.
I do construction/labour work. -u- Plastering and fixing things in houses most of the time. It's just another way to get money until I manage to get commissions coming in aha.
moving to new mexico in the summer and going to room with a friend so i can get some minimum wage job
its been suggested that i get a job in something technology-related but i think people overestimate my skills (i couldn't even learn Lua because of a lack of patience, so that doesnt bode well for other programming languages)
i actually havent made a dime off of my tunes and i dont really aim to, music is too important for me to monetize off of
Oh man best of luck with the move and settling in!!
Yeah technology is definitely a skill overestimated by certain folk not familiar with computers, but I'm sure you're better than you think though!! :< And yeah, I didn't do Art at degree level because I really don't think I'm good enough to take part in the art job field.
(also I love your icon it's so cute aaa)
I'm a software developer! In an office all day staring at a computer, but it's interesting and pays well. As a kid I was interested in becoming an animator, but I realized I can (and will) still draw for myself even if I have another day job that covers the bills.
I do many menial tasks. I nanny my friends 6mo old puppy on weekdays when I'm free (he's getting fixed in 5 days poor baby has no clue haha), I have a crappy retail job at Fannie May, and I am on an advisory board of a non profit surrounding the heroin problem in Chicago called Wake the Nation (I'm the visual media/marketing manager).
But I have an interview as an admin assistant focusing on design/PR/marketing at a vet clinic today if someone actually gets back to me with an address because it's in like 90 minutes o-o

I wonder the same thing!
I just work at a coffee shop, but I've been looking for something more art related. I have no idea what I want to do. I've stayed at the Mudhouse just because it's comfortable and haven't found anything better.
