    One of the first things I noticed about you was the fact that you didn't speak with the Canadian accent that I had expected. ...this was before I was exposed to more of Canadian culture and realized that most Canadians...sound like most Northeastern Americans ^^ You taught me something that day ^^

      (Didn't link my reply to your comment. Oops XD)

      I think it's become more common with the advent of TV, especially in my area. In the early days, there were four or five stations, and three of them were the US networks.

      The "stereotypical" Canadian accent is largely confined to northern Ontario, the Maritimes, and Newfoundland--especially Newfoundland!

        Ahhhhh! That's interesting. I just learned something else ^_^

          Just call me professor ;) You'd probably like Newfoundland, aside from the winter sea salt eating away at everything made of metal, that is!

          I was a bit surprised that you didn't have the stereotypical accents of your home state(s) as well, so that makes two of us :P

            Oh, that's because I was raised in the South, but lived in the North for several years, so whatever accent I have is a little muddled. ^^;

            • Link

              My father's the same. He was born and raised in the UK, but his family moved to Canada when he was 11 or 12 so his speech patterns have assimilated.
