FAQ:

  • Q: What is a reinforced wire skeleton?
  • A: This is a very strong poseable skeleton made for holding almost any pose and for standing. These are what art doll makers use to achieve the level of poseability that art dolls have. First I make a wire skeleton, then I make certain parts (like a forearm) unbendable by using tubing. I then hot glue on canvas fabric to reinforce the wire if I did not use plastic coated wire, then I surround it in stuffing and sew it all up, finally I put on weighted feet, usually these are wood or sculpty. Once it's all finished this whole things goes into the plushie skin. This is a very expensive and lengthy process, but it makes for beautifully poseable dolls!

  • Q: What is considered "excessive detail?"

  • A: Excessive detail is anything that is going to take me a bunch of extra time to do. This is usually stripes, spots, heavy scarrage, swirls, etc. I will always let you know if the excessive detail charge has been added.

  • Q: Do you take payments?

  • A: I do! I must have half payment up front to buy materials. After that I will allow up to three additional payments until the plushie is paid for. If the plushie had not been paid for after it had been completed for two weeks and you have not communicated with me then I will auction it off in an attempt to make up for lost funds, and you will get no refund. If this is going to happen you must communicate with me, I will work with you and I always try to ensure that the plushie goes to the original buyer. As long as you are up front, honest, and keep open communications with me then I will not be forced to auction off your plushie.

  • Q: Can I get a refund?

  • A: No, I do not offer refunds. The only time I will issue a refund is if I messed up something.

  • Q: Do you work with deadlines?

  • A: When you buy a plushie commission I will give you a general idea of when the plushie will be started. If you want it completed by a certain date then you must buy the plushie several months in advance, and you must make full payment before that deadline. I cannot and will not guarantee that a plushie will be completed by that date, but I will do my absolute best to meet it. I will not order materials until a couple weeks before I start on it. If I think I'm going to be late on the deadline I will let you know before I buy materials and you will be offered a full refund. Once materials are purchased I will not offer a refund at all.

  • Q: Do you offer rush orders?

  • A: I very rarely take on rush orders, it simply is not fair to my other clients. Exceptions are sometimes made if the reason is good enough and the commission is simple. If I do accept your rush order a mandatory $50 fee will be added, no exceptions.

  • Q: Do you have a pet free home?

  • A: No, I do not. I keep both dogs and cats. My pets are not allowed in my work area while I am working, however if you have an allergy to dogs or cats please make sure that you let me know so that I can ensure that your plushie comes to you allergen free.

Taking Care of your Plushie:

My plushies are built to last. I use a combination of machine sewing with hand sewn details using industrial strength thread. That said, there are some things you can do to ensure the long life of your plushie

  1. Plushies without wire frames, including plushies with limited wire such as in the wings, can be washed in a washing machine. Either wash the plushie by itself or put it inside of a clean pillow case, some people like to do both. Make sure you wash on the gentle cycle using cold water. Do not use a bleach based detergent, and it's best not to use powder detergent. When drying use the tumble dry setting, refrain from using a heated dry. Clothing accessories can also be washed, but they have NOT been pre-shrunk, so you must use cold water and tumble or air dry them or they will shrink.

  2. Plushies with wire frames can be spot cleaned. I like to use Shout, but any laundry spot cleaner will do. Spray a clean wash cloth with the spot cleaner and gently scrub at the dirty areas until they are clean. Let the plush air dry.

  3. If you have a plushie with a wire frame, be gentle when posing it. I try to use plastic coated wire in almost everything I make, but even that can snap if given too much pressure too fast and too often. Be gentle, pose your plush slowly and carefully, and you will enjoy many many more years without any broken wires.

  4. Expect seam ruptures after heavy use. It happens, stuffed toys become worn down and eventually you will get a seam rupture. Always have a needle and thread around for these occasions. If you don't know how to sew don't panic, a hidden seam is very very easy to do. Here is a visual tutorial:

  5. Be gentle! This is not to say that you cannot give the plushie to children, cuddle it, sleep with it, play with it, or otherwise subject it to heavy use, you just have to realize that these things shorten it's life. Your plushie will last for years, but the gentler you are with it the longer it will last. Treat your plushie with love and care and you'll have a stuffed companion that will outlive even you!
