Get to know me! by Darkness Falls

I've seen a couple of people do this meme, so it seems like a decent idea, with so many people coming to Weasyl lately. Hello everybody!

What's your real name?
Dan, but I don't much care for it. D.F. is fine.

How tall are you?
6'2"

What's your natural hair color?
Brown

What's your eye color?
Blue

What's your orientation?
I am currently facing northwest.
...Ohh, you meant that orientation. I kind of don't have one; I'm something pretty close to asexual, and don't really feel enough of anything towards either (any?) gender for it to count as being oriented towards it.

Are you single, taken or undecided?
I'm in a relationship. Yes, I know this is somewhat of a contrast with my above answer. I'm a very lucky person. :)

What do you do in your spare time?
Lots of creative things - art, playing guitar and keyboard, painting Warhammer miniatures (I play occasionally too, but I suck), writing. Plenty of reading and daydreaming goes on in the meantime.

What's your job or occupation?
I announce trains at a train station.

What do you like about yourself?
I like to think I'm kind and generally have people's best interests at heart; I don't have any agendas that involve hurting or upsetting people, and I try to be easy-going around people.

What do you dislike about yourself?
I'm somewhat unbalanced in mood and get stressy if things are going wrong; I'm a bit self-centred at times, and tend to shy away from excessive socialising if I'm feeling overwhelmed. When I'm doing well, I feel good about who I am; when I'm doing badly, I'm less proud of myself and the way I act.

What did your friends notice about you when they first met you?
I have no idea. Probably the hair. I tend to be quite quiet on first meeting people.

What is your belief/religion if you believe in anything at all?
I'm kind of eclectic, which is a fancy way of saying 'thief'. I was raised Christian, but moved away from it; my current approach is to look at as many different approaches to spirituality as possible, and take the bits I agree with, the bits that make sense to me, and leave the rest. I take an interest in near-death experiences, as well; they're the closest we have to a direct experience of the afterlife/spiritual dimension/whatever you want to call it.

Do you drink?
Yes, although not very much; I'm quite a lightweight.

Do you smoke?
No, I've never liked the smell, and I can't imagine it gets better if you're breathing it in directly.

What are your major fears?
I have an actual phobia of falling, and I get claustrophobia as well if I'm in a position where I can't move properly.

Do you have any dreams or goals?
To be with my loved ones, and live peacefully and happily, and help others to do the same. In pursuit of that, I'm looking at trying to emigrate to America in the next few years (timeline is currently a bit hazy, there are some things I need to do first).

Have you ever had a crush or an ex?
Yes.

Who's your best buddy?
My mate, and my wider circle of friends and family.

What's your favorite dish?
I like Italian food a lot - pasta, tomatoes, fresh veggies, fresh bread, cheese, wine, that sort of thing.

What's your favorite drink?
I mostly just drink water if left to my own devices.

What's your favorite color?
Warm yellow-greens and magenta/purples.

If you had a super power, what would it be?
I'd like to be able to shapeshift; I'd like to be in wolf- or werewolf-form for real.

What's your favorite movie?
Probably the original 1970s cut of Star Wars IV A New Hope; it was the first movie I ever remember watching, when I was very, very young. Other good ones include the Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Dark Knight, and Wreck-It Ralph (I'm a geek, I know).

What's your least favorite food?
Never had anything that I actually couldn't eat, but a lot of seafood makes me gag for some reason. I can still eat it, but I just have to take it slowly and get used to it.

What's the last meal you want before you die?
Depends; if I'm about to die by poisoning, then anything containing the antidote would be good. :P I guess a really nice fish-and-chips?

What do you drive and what would you really like to drive?
I can't drive; I'm terrible at it. I'm due to start taking lessons again sometime soon.

What is your most disliked bug?
Those creepy parasites that live inside caterpillars and eat them from the inside out. Actually, anything that eats things from the inside out, honestly.

What pet peeves do you dislike the most?
Being treated like I'm an idiot, craziness as enacted by people in positions of authority, being manipulated or socially manoeuvred into a corner.

What do you dislike in life?
The relentlessness of it; being trapped being who I'm forced to be, instead of who I want to be. Also the arguments that my neighbour has with her boyfriend when I'm trying to sleep. Actually, arguments in general are no fun.

D.F.

You have the most conceptually interesting job I've ever heard of.

In practice, it lurches between being pretty boring (when everything's running smoothly and the trains are on time) and pretty stressful (when there's disruption and everyone's shouting at you wanting to know why you haven't yet done the thing that you had to stop doing to answer the phone to them). The job itself is quite decent, just, as with many things, the people and politics involved get in the way a touch. Still, it beats the hell out of retail, which is what I was in beforehand.
