That "Get to Know Me" Meme, answered for real by Aldin

What's your real name?
Scott. You want more than that, you can look it up through links I’ve provided in the past.

How tall are you?
6ft (183cm)

What's your natural hair color?
Brown

What's your eye color?
Brown.

What's your orientation?
Straight.

Are you single, taken or undecided?
Taken.

What do you do in your spare time?
Spare time? What’s that? I’m a VERY ACTIVE Boy Scout Volunteer at the district level. I provide support to cub pack and scout troop leaders across five counties in western/central Maine. Area-wise, our district is 6 towns smaller than the state of New Hampshire. Despite a back injury, I still try and get out as much as I can in my “spare time”, health permitting. I like to hike, cross-country ski, and snowshoe.

What's your job or occupation?
I am the main point of contact for entry level certification for the adult mental health workforce in the State of Maine. I provide necessary information, maintain the records for the state and so on. Funny (or sad) thing is I didn’t study human services, social work, psychology or any of the fields related to mental health. I’m a meteorologist who couldn’t find work in the weather field and worked my way into this position starting as a temp some 15 years ago.

What do you like about yourself?
I’ll reflect my fursona here: We’re getting a bit deep with these questions. I’m proud of my good work ethic.

What do you dislike about yourself?
I’m too honest.

What did your friends notice about you when they first met you?
How quiet I am at first. No, seriously. I’m nowhere near as talkative in RL as I am on chat channels.

What is your belief/religion if you believe in anything at all?
Roman Catholic, but not a “good” Catholic. Else, I wouldn’t be married to a former Southern Baptist who dabbled in paganism and is now studying to be a minister in the Universalist Unitarian church. A couple generations ago in my culture, being first born, my family would have “handed me over” to the Church to become a priest. Then again, if I was a “good” Catholic, I’d have told my then girlfriend (now wife) that she was out-of-luck, the Church has called and I must become a priest and you’d now address me as Father Scott. Then again, if I had gone that route, I wouldn’t be in this “Den of Sin”. (chuckle)

Do you drink?
Alcoholism runs in my family. One relative drank himself to death within ten weeks of his mother dying in a car accident. So, I do not drink. I don’t want to risk being dragged down that road. The only alcohol to ever pass my lips is in the form of cough syrup when sick.

Do you smoke?
I’ll, again, reflect my fursona: No! What a nasty and foul habit.

What are your major fears?
Crowds. See next question also.

Do you have any dreams or goals?
Some of my past dreams have been crushed (not being able to work in my field of study), which makes it difficult to consider new dreams and goals for fear of further disappointment.

Have you ever had a crush or an ex?
Not really that I can recall.

Who's your best buddy?
Considering that I was a loner in high school, at least 95% of my high school class moved away after graduation; I did not drink in undergraduate college; and that graduate students don’t mix with undergrads, I don’t really have any “buddies” nearby that I can name. I have friends among the other scout volunteers, but no one I’d call my “best buddy”.

What's your favorite dish?
I have to pick one? I can’t. I like home cooking and am not afraid to do the home cooking.

What's your favorite drink?
Moxie

What's your favorite color?
Blue

If you had a super power, what would it be?
Same as my fursona: The ability to short out electronic equipment, especially cellphones, by mere thought. I HATE those things.

What's your favorite movie?
I don’t really have a favorite. I’m fond of animation, sci-fi, fantasy, alternate reality.

What's your least favorite food?
Cooked greens are ruined greens.

What's the last meal you want before you die?
Considering that males in my family literally drop dead when it’s their time to die, I won’t have time to consider a last meal.

What do you drive and what would you really like to drive?
I currently drive an ’01 Chevy Impala. It currently has about 179,000 miles (288K km) on it. I’m hoping to get another full year out of it to give my bank account time to recover from a recent big ticket purchase for a family member. The reason for wanting it to last a little longer is so I can avoid a car payment again when I replace it, much as I paid cash for the Impala back in ’09. If I had a garage and space to store it in bad weather, I’d love to get my hands on another ’82 Chevy Impala/Caprice Wagon (or Olds or Buick) like the ’82 I had in college. It was a tank. It hauled everything I owned from Maine to Texas and back. And it got 20mpg in town and 22mpg on the highway with a V8!

What is your most disliked bug?
I’m going to partially reflect my fursona again: ticks, some which carry Lyme Disease. Ticks were next to unheard of up here in Maine when I was growing up. Now, before I head off anywhere in the woods, I soak my clothes in pet bedding spray as a precaution. I have a neighbor who moved here from Connecticut who is suffering from the long-term effects of Lyme as it wasn’t diagnosed in him in time to properly treat it.

What is your biggest pet peeve?
Cellphones. If you’re talking to someone, put the f-ing thing down and pay attention to who you are with. Ditto, while driving. Put the f-ing thing down and pay attention to the road!

What do you dislike in life?
Politicians, regardless of the letter or lack of letter after their name.

I hate those ticks too - nasty buggers! I never want one! Will look into ways to keep them off in addition to the pet bedding stuff you listed. Not too familiar with Lyne disease :o

http://www.cdc.gov/lyme/ for more info. Neighbor who has it has had it too long for it to be cured. It is affecting his joints and muscles at this point. There are days when he just can't leave the house. Temps above upper 70'sF affects him something awful too. It's one of the reasons he move up here from CT.
