What's your real name?

I'm one of the ten hundred thousand Katies in my generation

How tall are you?

5'4

What's your natural hair color?

Light brown something

What's your eye color?

Blue with a yellow ring around the pupil!

What's your orientation?

Awesome question

Are you single, taken or undecided?

Singlest

What do you do in your sparetime?

Garden! Garden and explore! I'm not good at gardening by any stretch of the imagination, but tending plants and watching a little ecosystem start to happen in previously bare land is phenomenally rewarding. By 'explore' I mean FIND EVERY POSSIBLE CEMETERY AND WALK AROUND IN IT.

What's your job or occupation?
Currently an intern at the Ohio Dept of Conservation graphics department doing design work, and maybe a bit of illustration later on. It's wonderful!

What do you like about yourself?

I like to think that I'm incredibly patient and tolerant. On a shallower note, I also like my freckles.

What do you dislike about yourself?

I wish I was more of a talker. A lot of day-to-day social situations still stress me out a bit because I worry so much. Also dislike my high-frequency hearing loss quite a bit, but eh

What did your friends notice about you when they first met you?

Wouldn't know

What is your belief/religion if you believe in anything at all?

I'm not religious in any sense, but I do think that spirituality is incredibly important in whichever way it may come to a person.

Do you drink?

Not really, more because I hate the taste of most alcohol than anything. Still trying stuff! Whiskey might be the key to the box

Do you smoke?

Nawp

What are your major fears?

Driving on ice. I wholeheartedly apologize to everyone behind me during these times, I am awful

Do you have any dreams or goals?

I aim low, it seems, but it'd be incredibly cool to be able to properly support myself and live somewhere with just the right mixture of urban and natural area. I want to be comfortable with who I am and be able to live near people I enjoy being with.

Have you ever had a crush or an ex?

~

Who's your best buddy?

The highschooler in me hates answering stuff like this in public. :'D Most of my truly best buds are outside of Weasyl/furrydom/internet art communities, but I'll nominate these two chumps.

What's your favorite dish?

Lentil soup with turkey kielbasa. Frickin' FALAFEL, ALL FALAFEL. Also, a really good apple.

What's your favorite drink?

Caffe mochaaaa every day (and milk)

What's your favorite color?

Battle to the death between leafy yellow-green and burnt orange

If you had a super power, what would it be?

I'd be one of those nerds who can commune with plants and trees n' whoop ass with vines and roots.

What's your favorite movie?

LET'S BE REAL: "O Brother Where Art Thou?" and "The Passion of Joan of Arc"

What's your least favorite food?

I'm sensitive to texture in foods, so a lot of cabbage dishes throw me off. Cilantro also tastes like I'm eating dish soap, so there's that

What's the last meal you want before you die?

I have honestly never given this question a thought. Ah. Let's go with something sentimental like a post-Thanksgiving turkey soup with cheesy garlic bread because that would never disappoint.

What do you drive and what would you really like to drive?

'97 RAV 4. It's a goddam trooper, and I love it.

What is your most disliked bug?

Centipedes fill me with an eldritch horror like no other creature on this earth (but I'd never kill one). I also run away from anything longer than 1inch that flies toward my face. RUN AWAY FAST. All in all, I love bugs but you've gotta take away the element of surprise. :'D

What pet peeves do you dislike the most?

wh-

What do you dislike in life?

The feeling of helplessness, 'specially in regards to watching something unfold that you can't do anything about.

…that seemed like a grim ending. I'll take it out with some random stuff: Some of my favorite things include Terry Pratchett novels, twee folk-rock music, air raid/tornado siren noises, and art history. I play TF2, F.T.L., and Minecraft quite a bit, as well as this obscure-as-hell board game called Agricola (do you play? We should meet up).

And lastly, more fandom related, I've yet to attend a furry convention...but Midwest Furfest might be a viable thing in the future! c:

Ahhh gardening, that's so neat! Also you can never go wrong with Terry Pratchett and TF2

    • Link

Gardening is so ridiculously fun. Down to earth would be the punniest way to describe it, but it's true! I keep moving lately, and apartment life is no good for growing much of anything, but I do intend to try some container plants this spring. c:

it feels like TF2 is the most out-of-the-blue thing for me to enjoy, considering my other interests, but I can't get enough (both game and fandom-wise, omg). Which Pratchett book would you say is your favorite? I'm very fond of Small Gods and Going Postal.

      • Link

I have a little bonsai tree that has been my companion throughout my degree in wake of not being able to keep a pet in student accommodation. You're right, it is really fun taking care of something like that!

I play TF2 less and less the more I've gotten back into drawing but I still adore all the characters and all the great art of them. And this probably doesn't count but I'm very fond of Good Omens, it was one of the first novels I read of his work.

Also your internship sounds fantastic! I'm glad it's going well!

      • Link

Yes, the apartment lifestyle is hard on aspiring gardeners. I make do with an indoor succulent collection. It doesn't help that my far-northern US apartment has windows that face northeast (worst possible exposure).....so in winter, it gets about 5 seconds of dim, grey natural light a day.

As to Pratchett, I have only read Good Omens, but it is totally awesome. Co-authored with Neil Gaiman. Read it, read it now if you haven't! A lovely, hilarious book!

  • Link

Haha, I love air raid/tornado siren noises too! I am always excited to hear those :D You are cool!

    • Link

Aw, hopefully I can live up to this 'cool' description. :'D Grew up in Missouri, so sirens were a verrrry common thing due to tornado fun.

  • Link

Ahhh, congrats on the internship :D I'm glad you get to flex your art muscles for the public.

And I highly approve of the fave movies.

    • Link

Thanks, it's going very well- my boss is the nicest person on the earth itself, and I'm so thankful for the position. Things were looking kind of grim for the past few months, and the opportunity came out of the blue. So far it's been a bunch of graphic design work (literally, SIGN work, ha. Trailheads and stuff), which I need to learn to get comfortable with. Communication with printing presses too, which is teaching me a lot about the inner workings of things.

And AW YEAH, those two movies make me so happy. Or. Emotionally hollow, if we're talking Joan of Arc. :'D Since we agree on those two, what are some of your favorite movies? I'm using my lack of internet at the apartment to fit in some proper movie watchin' time. Surfing through Wes Anderson highlights right now!

      • Link

Oh man, I'm terrible at listing favorites. I always remember a bunch more later. But I'll give it a try.

Some of my favorites aren't the happiest, like Children of Men, American History X, Fargo, The Secret of NIMH, and Glory. For lighter stuff, The Princess Bride, Beetlejuice, and Christmas movies with quirky families, haha.

Your occupation sounds interesting from every angle! And your eye colors sounds pretty!

I used to hate my freckles but now I feel they're one of my better features, even if they make me look like I have a mustache sometimes.

    • Link

Thank you! Whatever the yellow-ringed-pupil thing is, it comes from my mom's Polish side of the family!

It's not uncommon that people hate their freckles, and it always surprises me! I'm glad you've grown to love yours. C: (Though one thing my little sister told me is that they can make quite a difference if make-up is involved? I don't wear it, so it's not something I've had to deal with)

THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE KATIE, GO OUT FORTH AND CUT OFF THE HEADS OF THE IMORTALS TO GAIN POWER AND BE THE LAST ONE STANDING

    • Link

I ACCEPT THIS MOST VALIANT QUEST, EXCEPT KATIE IS ALSO THE NAME OF ONE OF MY BEST FRIENDS, OH NO THIS JUST TURNED INTO A TRAGEDY D8

            • Link

With the sheer amount of Katies that exist, this could be a frighteningly viable thing

  • Link

I'm starting to feel a slight gardening itch these days. Been thinking about maybe doing a container garden for things like herbs and spices and what have you.

    • Link

Do it! Nothing like needing some parsley and stopping in your tracks when you realize it's waiting for you right outside. c:

      • Link

I imagine it tastes REALLY GOOD fresh, too.

  • Link

I love your desired superpowers.....mashing up the Druidic/Amazon archetypes, very nice! Someone should do some Super-Katie fanart.

And yeah, who ends a fun meme like this on such a depressing down note kind of question? I ought to go back and edit mine and add some more positive things at the end.....

  • Link

The Katie's shall RULE THE WORLD!

  • Link

I like your freckles, too! Also, I'm totally doing this and putting you as my best (only?) Internet buddy, haha.

My own dream super power has always been to be able to understand and speak every language, written and spoken and/or communicate with animals. Together (with Eskiworks above) we could rule the world!
