PROJECT COMMENT by Crownless

Heya, Weasyl! I'm determined to keep this place alive and roaring! So I have an idea (it's not much of an idea, just an encouragement).

Project Comment

Everybody loves getting comments. Communication is what makes a community flourish! Comments can begin friendships and business opportunities!

Everyone is arriving and excited to start watching new artists and to put their work out there for eyes who might not have had the chance to see it before (thank you nifty tag system!) so I thought, wouldn't it be nice if everybody tried to leave at least five comments a day on something around the site?

Things you can comment on:

  • Artwork
  • Writing
  • Music
  • Shout Pages (Why not leave somebody a nice comment on their work instead of thanking them for the fav or watch they just gave you? It doesn't have to be a beautifully written paragraph, just something nice for them to come home to!)
  • Journal Entries

I LOVE watching the front page on this site. There's nearly a constant stream of new things to see and you can browse by tag and category.

Like this idea? Feel free to copy and paste it into your own journal to spread the word or simply start a trend by doing 5 a Day! LIKE SANTA but not.

what a very positive idea! i've been trying to do that as well, lately! i prefer to say nice things following my thanks for anything, because a complement always brightens the day!

I really hope it takes off! This place has been so friendly to me and I want EVERYBODY to have the same nice experience.

    STRATEGY ALREADY IMPLEMENTED XD

I think I've already left more comments here than I have in the years I've been on FA. It's easier for me, somehow. Maybe because it's a smaller community, or maybe because the atmosphere here feels much more friendly and positive.

I was usually too shy to comment over on FA and felt like the person might not read my comment anyway. Here 9/10 I get a reply and it's been a nice way to make friends!

I am so going to do this! I've been here for two days, talked to a bunch of people on their and mine profile pages but haven't got a single comment on my art. I mean I'm still uploading old stuff but still...

And I sort of gave up on commenting on most other art sites because I used to write a paragraph on how some picture made me feel and wouldn't get any reply, not even a short one.

So all in all this is a good opportunity to start anew. :)

You just gotta keep at it. It'll come back to you eventually. I hope you enjoy Weasyl!

Thanks! So far it's been okay, I hope it'll keep getting better! I'm pretty much in love with the site interface (I'm a sucker for folders and custom previews and a neat comment system), I just hope the community will turn out nice as well.

    I like it!

This is awesome! I've been making it my personal goal to comment on art once a day and post on the forum once a day -- but five comments a day is also totally doable! I really hope lots of people pick up on this. <3

I'm no artist and I'm really darn shy, but I'll definitley start commenting more often. The main thing that's stopped me was that I felt I didn't have anything noteworthy to add, considering I'm not an artist and all. Later, though, I thought about the time I got a simple "Oooh, that sounds nice!" from one of my friends when I was playing my guitar. She doesn't know a thing about music (Granted, I don't know a whole lot myself; I kind of just...play. Haha.) but I didn't care because her compliment lifted my spirits considerably. Why would this be any different for any of you here? Even from a stranger on the internet, a compliment's a compliment, right?

    So, yeah—definitely doing this. :3
