someday I want to settle down in an intentional community. More generally, I'd like to spend more time doing political work, learn more advanced garment construction and tailoring stuff, and become a better painter.

idk, I think I mean more that it takes a long time for most people (if they ever do) to learn kindness. -shrug-

I think that compassion is partly instinctive in human beings, despite all the propaganda to the contrary. I think people are naturally distressed by the immediate witnessing of the distress of other people on a gut level, and can, unless they are psychopathic, only be blunted to that by conditioning. i think many people learn compassion in an intellectual sense as they grow by imagining the suffering of others by considering their own and projecting, but I think deep, sophisticated compassion can only come through the actual intense immediate experience of another's suffering from their perspective.
compassion and kindness are becoming more and more important to me as I grow as a person. I'm less and less able to ignore the suffering that I know is occurring all around me.

I guess personally I don't think humans are hard wired to be assholes or kind, or at least culture overrides our predispositions enough that our biological behavior cues are arbitrary to what we actually do. I think the cultures I live around tend to foster kindness built off of group identity like "This person is like me, so I can value their feelings" and it only extends out of the group as "tolerance" of perceived inferior lifeways. But like you're saying, I think as people live a while and get experience you learn to care more for people who aren't like you and accept what you don't know. I guess what gets me is that I feel impatient with how long it takes us to grow/find enlightenment/gain wisdom/mature, however you word it, if we ever really do.

I can feel you on the old white dudes thing sort of when males raise their voices I get all anxious in particular. It's just all nooo old white dudes stop yelling.
Wooo woo is also a favorite preface I like to start with before getting into some weird crap I'll talk about, just to warn them my speculations and beliefs are weird so that answer amused the heck out of me.
Motivating people to do cool stuff? Yeah I think it's pretty much your badges that are making me want to start making badges of my own.

I know!! When old dudes think they can intimidate people into agreeing with them it's so frustrating. The part that gets to me is that if they called a cop or otherwise fuck with my life (or are a cop) I would have to submit in some form to be left alone. Ugh.
And yes. I love the word woo woo. I think it sums up the fae as fuck flavor to my new ageyness. Also my only big spiritual faith supposition is in energy/Wu/chi/spirit/whatever, so yeah lol.
