So I'm going to have lunch with Katsuhiro Otomo, creator of Akira, Steam Boy, Fireball, etc. tomorrow.
And I'm real life friends with Jack Bird, son of Brad Bird, who goes to my school now.
We went bowling together with other friends, then went to Denny's and ejaculated Oreo shakes out of our noses from laughing at Japanese comedy via our phones.
So that's happening!
My face hurts from smiling so hard. This is the first time I've ever heard of someone being jealous of my life like this! I don't know if I like this or not, but man, I have no words.
You do for the most part! From what I've seen you have a lot of the basic ideas of art down, all you need now is to apply that to figurative and observational drawings, and you'll be set. Also, you better have loads of cash or loans to cover you throughout the years, it's a pricey school.
Some people love it, others feel like the amount of debt you go through isn't worth the time spent there. If you have the money to, I would say shoot for it! If not, don't sweat it. Talent begets more talent if you have resources. I suppose now I am one to some degree!
I usually keep pretty hush-hush about my life and the people I meet, but I figure that won't do much good to hold it all in to myself.
I also met Mark Andrews and talked with him a little bit, and have some pretty notorious friends all around. If you want me to extrapolate, it will be in private! I'm shooting for meeting you some time though, if I ever head down to the UK again!
Goodness, that'd be sweet. I can maybe attach myself to your head and siphon off some of those skills you have. :3 (And by that I mean we could draw stuff together). Jesus though, Mark Andrews? 8| I cannot contain my envy.
I take a shit ton of notes, so I could scan them for you some-time and just chat it up with you if you'd like. I'm not as experienced as you'd think, perhaps! Or who knows, I might be giving myself too little credit, and it sucks because I'm lazy, not because I don't know how to draw.
Yeah, he comes over yearly to give the school guest lectures. This year we went through his John Carter boards, then over a little bit of Brave, and then watched the movie with him. After that a Q & A, and I asked a few questions, got them answered (sort of), and shook his hand after it was all said and done and got his autograph in my sketchbook, where Otomo's drawing also rests.
In my first year of school (three years ago), he went through a live demo of his boarding process for his 6 year old's bed-time story.
Aight, I'm inclined to tell you more, which I'll note you here and any other place you feel comfortable if you'd like!
