Collections:wat R DO? -No hablo Inglés... by BlueNire

Okay..so...
I've read the collections description page over and over and over...(and over and over and over..)

aand..

I swear my brain is reading in Spanish or German or another language I can't understand.

So. Here's what I understand I think...

Collections have to be initiated/created by the ARTIST yes?
So when an artist puts up a commission, there's a little thingy that lets them put the name of the commissioner/character in the picture..that says "collection" somewhere. After the artist submits the picture, the person listed in the "collection box thingy" will get a inquiry to accept the collection. Yes? Maybe?

I'm just asking because there are some commissions (that I've bought/was gifted) that other artists have posted on here already and I've been looking for how to add them to my collection but I ....I'm guessing the artist has to do that?? yes?

Am I understanding that right?

:sigh: So sorry to be asking all these questions!! Still figuring out Weasyl's thingies...

    Nope. A customer can upload an image and send a collection offer to the artist. Kinda a "shared gallery" idea. You'll get a notification to accept/decline it.

    Which reminds me I think I have a thing that I can send you a collection thing for... I'll have to try that in a few minutes

      Er, well, rather, to my knowledge, whoever uploads the image gets to send the collection requests, ahha. Not sure if there's the other way around.

        OKAY I think you've answered my confusion! SO- If someone ELSE poses the image and forgets to do the collection thing, there's nothing I can do on my end, yes? Maybe?

          You can probably toss 'em a comment on the submission :o I know a lot of artists still aren't on Weasyl, so they might not know you're on here yet.

    You've got it right Nire! That's how you do it. Basically, you upload a picture and then when you scroll down on the right side of your submission, you should see "send collection offer". (Here's a quick example)

    Then you just write in the user's name and click enter. You get a notification to accept the collection offer, you accept, and there you go. If you want an artist to send you a collection offer, just leave them a comment and they'll probably be happy to oblige.

    Also just FYI- using the collection feature isn't required, it's just kind of preferred by the Weasyl staff. You can upload art people have made for you so long as you have permission to do so and you credit the artist. :>
