Commission Proccess

Got a commission or question? email me at brimercedesart@gmail.com and include your DA, FA, or Weasyl username. I may not reply to private messages on this site immediately.

Things I need to know when requesting a commission:

• What is your concept? Is it an icon, a badge, a reference sheet, or a full illustration? What details are important?
• What size would you like the final image?
• Include an image reference of your character or a detailed text description. The more information the better.

When you email me, I will reply within 24 hours with a price quote. Payment is expected within one week of finalizing the project, and I will not start sketching until I receive payment. See the “Payment” section in my TOS for more information.

After payment has been received, I will send you sketches for approval. Once a sketch has been approved, I will move on to the final artwork. I’ll send you periodic snapshots as I make progress.

If you see something in a snapshot you don’t like, tell me and I will change it! You are allowed two revisions. I will make my best effort to deliver an artwork you love. See the TOS for more information on additional revisions.

Once the artwork has been completed, I will send you a snapshot for final approval. Once approved, the high-res final image will be emailed to you and I will post the image to my social media pages.

TOS:

General

• The artist draws clean subject matter ONLY. Nude “parts" for reference sheets, etc. are accepted only if they are non-sexual in nature.
• The artist has the right to decline any commission request for any reason.
• The artist may stream the creation of the art live on Picarto.tv or similar service. (Out of courtesy, I will not stream an artwork if it is a surprise or private piece, see below. Feel free to ask when I'll be streaming, or watch my page for updates!)
• Please allow up to one month for the art to be completed, unless discussed otherwise.
• Two revisions per project are allowed. If the commissioner has already made two revisions on a project and wishes for more, there will be a charge of $10/hour for additional changes to be made.

Payment

• Payment is due up front unless arranged otherwise. If the commissioner wishes to cancel, they have 24 hours to receive a refund in full, minus PayPal fees.
• If 24 hours have passed, or if the artist has already sent the commissioner a sketch for approval, a 50% refund will be issued.
• No refunds on completed work will be given.
• PayPal only. The artist will provide the PayPal email address to send payment to after a project and price is agreed upon. It is separate from the contact email.
• The final artwork will not be delivered until any applicable additional charges (additional revisions, privacy, purchase of rights) have been paid.

Rights

• The artist retains copyright of commissioned illustrations, including any preview images and the final product unless the commissioner purchases the rights.
• The commissioned image is for personal use only, unless arranged otherwise. Allowable use of the commissioned image includes icons, avatars, desktop wallpapers, etc.
• The artist may post the image on social and art networking websites (DA, FA, Weasyl, Facebook, etc.) and use it in her portfolio. The artist may link to the commissioner's DA/FA/Weasyl profile in the image's description.
• The commissioner may NOT sell the commissioned image or prints of the image in any way.
• If the commissioner decides to post the commissioned image to their FA, DA, Weasyl, or other art website, a link back to the artist is REQUIRED and the image may not be edited in any way.
• If the commissioner wishes for the commissioned art to never be posted publicly, there will be a $35 charge as completed pieces help advertise my services. (If it is commissioned as a birthday gift or similar and needs to be kept secret until a certain date, just let me know!)

Which programs do you use?

• Manga Studio 5 for most illustrative things, and Photoshop 6 for more technical things like adding text and design elements.

What hardware do you have?

• Mid-2009 15” Macbook Pro, Wacom Intuos4.

Did you go to college for art?

• Yup! I have a BFA in Illustration from PCA&D.

Why are your prices high?

• My prices are based on how much time it will take to complete a piece. Would you work somewhere that paid $3/hour? Nope.
