meanwhile, nabyn is still invitation-only by Grebij

Nabyn was, or gave the impression of being (I never got in, after all) the fad exclusive furaffinity escape route before weasyl's invitation-only phase. I get the impression it missed its big chance. Now it needs to wait for something stupid to happen -here,- and hope people do not just revert to furfyn like in the past.

the owner's devyntart journal suggests a new version is coming, and perhaps the present edition was never intended to be the ultimate replacement people presented it as. But they cannot help presenting it that way because they live by hype and imaginary social status.

Really I should just dismiss things without doing research. That was the idea; recall this thing from two years ago for two minutes and do something else.

Even more meanwhile, your username here is just as weird as everywhere else!
Never really been interested in Nabyn... a site that you can only get into by asking nicely...? That should be reserved for ... I dunno... sites that would be messed up somehow by having too many people on it... Nabyn's just an art site and it seems to have many of the same people as are on DA and/or FA so there's not much point, to me.

That was what I said about this place! http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3885230/ All the same stuff, but harder to get into. If these invitation phases are only for testing limited quantities of users and not meant to be about who got in, it sure did not look that way. But at least gmail and livejournal offered open registration eventually.

Anyway, there really is no need to present either Y-site as a furaffinity-killer when it is capable of killing itself, or at least shooting itself in the foot every few months. I remember it happened once when furocity was around, but there have been at least three since weasyl has been fully open.

I am still not sure where I fit in it, however. I cannot recall what drove me to suddenly start uploading junk here last year; months after seeming to dismiss its necessity, but I know I do not feel like doing it this year, or again someplace else if another shows itself.

Gosh that first sentence and link make me seem conceited. That was not my intent. I am conceited, but I prefer to keep that less apparent.

no-one has invited me to that site, and I realize thereby my utter lack of worth as a conscious being. it is a hard lesson to learn, but at least I now know where I stand - in losersville.

in all seriousness there is little genuine advantage to be gained I think from pretensions of exclusivity - presuming that the original in-group is in any way admirable or enviable, gradually the invitations will be offered to those further and further removed from the original spirit of the group which the system was implemented to preserve and the same old clods will be engaging in the same annoying and disruptive antics there as elsewhere. thank you for giving me cause to dust off this statement which I actually formulated years ago but did not have pretense to express hitherto.

What creature is Nabyn supposed to be? I've never heard of a naben before, but I have heard of weasel! Maybe it was supposed to be Robyn or Turtyle or Narwhyl?

Do I pronounce your new name Greb-EE-jee?

    • Link

I pronounce it gree-bij but am not privy to your personal technique.

      • Link

So I got the gree part, but the bij. Is that like "bidge?"

        • Link

Like bidge but with no "D" sound.
