Yeeaaahhh, it does seem kinda weird to have adult accounts already.
And, well, the thing about furries is that they're usually a tight knit group, so when one comes along they bring their 20 million friends and the 20 million friends of their friends comes with. I wanted to get some of my friends here but they're already convinced it's a furry-only site even though, as you said, they encourage non-furry work as well. It's somethin' we witnessed with Nabyn; once a site is overrunned with furries they usually give more attention to furry artwork than anything else, so it makes non-furry artists uncomfortable or feelin' unwelcome or unnoticed. Don't wanna knock on furries or nothin', but it is somethin' that usually happens.-

It's sorta how Deviant Art is over run with anime-tards and you hardly ever see furry art there (mostly speaking of the front page) unless there's some anthro character in a popular fandom, lol.Though I do hope Weasyl doesn't turn into another Nabyn, I really like the functions and features especially character storage! So it'd be a shame to have donated and helped out only to have it turn up dead and filled with things nothing since ya know.. I can filter out all the weird fetishes I don't enjoy viewing on the front page of FA.

Yeah, guess that can go both ways. It's hard to find in-between ground where furry and non-furry art can both coexist.
Well, part of the reason Nabyn is all blafahfgjk;qehn now is because Kameloh up and abandoned it without any sort of explanation. He hasn't updated it in 7 months and we haven't heard a peep from him on why. Not to mention when the wave of furries all came in it drove a lot of people away, and besides that the whole site is just stale.
But this place looks nice. The interface is better than Nabyn's, but personally I feel that Nabyn's character feature is better, since it has so many detail and custom options and you could make character galleries and all that. Filters are nice though.
But, eehhh, we'll just have to see where this site goes.-
One of the key reasons why I joined Nabyn, the character database really impressed me compared to what else was out there. Though even with it most artists I commission completely ignore all the information the page and just look for some sort of full body reference of my character completely ignoring the color palette and a list of things I prefer, don't prefer, or don't care about in terms of character design (like my herm here ~Radio~ artists assume since she's a herm she has a vaginal slit which she doesn't even though I state this on her character page), but I guess if I don't yell at them to read or look for certain things I can't complain.
As far as the site abandonment I wish he'd say something about why he left the project, it could've been something worth while if he had the amount of staff and time needed to conduct maintenance and help folks out. Not really right for 'em to just leave all his users in the blue like he did..

Agreed. I thought the whole idea behind the folders system was to give people the ability to separate their work without having to squat a bunch of sockpuppet accounts anyhow.
I'm also 100% behind submitting non-furry stuff here to offset the amount of furry content. While I've had a lot of interaction with the furry fandom in general for over a decade, I'm not one and never have been and feel like an outsider here because of it.

Yeh, I found an artist who I followed only to realize they had a separate account for their Adult work and General work. Personally I don't care if they did this AFTER beta but their taking up invites that could be used to have other users actually test the site since ya know.. it's still in beta. I might bring this up on the forums now just to see other users opinions on the it and see if the team knows anything about this and whether they encourage or discourage it.
Also, on the furry things, I normally just call myself one because I have trolls as friends and well yeah if I say "I'm not a furry but I have an anthro-animal character" ya know, lol, sounds redundant to most people but meh. I feel out of place mostly because of all the hostility they have to certain groups when furries are probably the most hated group I know of other than shotacons/lolicons/pedophiles.

So you're going to join the morality police now? I don't see what makes it less valid than any other subject matter, and (like on FA) a minority of submissions are adult.
Also I'm not clear why it bothers you when you already know that you can prevent it from ever displaying.

Where does Weasyl encourage non-furry art? I've never seen it. I've uploaded some non-furry stuff but I was under the impression weasyl IS a furry-only site. If it's not then I have some artists I'd happily recommend over here...

i agree, i havent seen anywhere does it say nonfurry art so i kinda just uploaded anthro related stuff or else i feel out of place, like i wont get proper attention. their mascot is a furry, i don't know what else they expected

What I'm wondering is why there's people who have Adult and General accounts already. Taking up account space to post on different accounts during a sites beta phase seems a bit selfish to me? Dunno if that's what I'm thinking but you get the gist of it, though I am also surprised at the amount of furry things being uploaded here when they encourage folks to upload things OTHER than furry art. I mean yeah the team who thought all this up are FA users but come one, that doesn't make Weasyl another Fa/Inkbunny/SoFurry, does it?
