Warning: New email scams by Claw-MacKain

I recently gotten two email scams that were my first time seeing, so I thought I'd warn those of you out there that might get these, too.

First new scam I got was from someone claiming to be a US Army soldier in Afghanistan that needed my help for some packages of his that arrived here in the US. Now, not only did the email it was sent from not really match the name, but the grammar of this so-called soldier was not all that good. Sure a few English speaking people have horrible grammar now a days, but this email told me that the person writing it wasn't really a native to English. So I ignored the email and reported it as spam forthwith.

Second, which I got just today, is someone claiming to be with Blizzard's World of WarCraft security branch and claimed my account was under investigation. Now here's where the scam fell flat. I'm not a player of WoW and never was. Plus when I hovered my mouse over the email account it claimed it was from, it showed it was really from a personal account through Gmail, not Blizzard, like it claimed. So this was an attempt to scare a WoW player into responding through a provided link, which the said link, would then ask for WoW information that it'll steal the real account with.

I have also on several occasions gotten fake emails claiming to be from PayPal. These PayPal scam attempts I have reported right away to the PayPal scam report office.

So remember that if you get an email from someone you don't know DON'T TRUST IT! And if you get an email that says it's a serious matter from a company or service you do use, be skeptical enough to check if there's a hidden sender email on it to make sure if it's legit or fake. Such hidden senders can be revealed simply by hovering the cursor over the sender information. Some fake emails might say something like it's from PayPal, but when you hover your cursor over the sender name it'll show the email of the sender as something like ejohnson@gmail.com or something like that. This says it's fake, so don't trust it, report it!

For those of you that do get PayPal scam attempts, don't just ignore them. PayPal will take action against the scammer if you forward the email to spoof@paypal.com

Keep your eyes out, because there's always someone trying to steal something from another. Don't be one of those. You should not have to scam to make ends meet and you shouldn't have to allow scammers to skirt by for their attempts.
