Furry Thoughts: Popufur's Army by Arago

There are a million and one things I can say about popufurs, but this journal is not actually about them, it is about the fans of the popufur.

So first off, I would like to say that furry or not, fans ruin everything. An example is four years ago, I could not walk into a store without finding a cardboard cutout of Edward Cullen. More than that however, is when you are a fan of a real person, and this person has a problem with someone and that someone is attacked by all of the fans. I don't follow celebrity gossip, but I can say with some certainty that this happens. Like my years in high school, the fandom has a trend of following and imitating someone, usually a popufur, that they idolize or like, and when that person has a problem, people run to that person's aid.

Actually, this isn't so bad, it's good to help talented people out who are down on their luck, or have a problem and can get advice from a loving community that supports them. But what happens when the popufur has a problem with a situation in the fandom, or people in the fandom? Their mindless followers find those people, and without question or a deep understanding of a situation, and proceed to harass them online. Let me first say this: It is not the fault of the popufur. They cannot control the minds of the people that follow them. It is actually the fault of people who idolize these popular furries, and don't understand the situation. They act assuming that the furry they follow is always right, and that the person or group they have a problem with is a problem to that furry, so they deal with it. This is why we don't call out names in journals, because the sites know this will cause a huge drama issue. It doesn't mean however that those armies of popufur fans don't know who to target. They do. This has been a problem for me, and it was extremely annoying.

I have adopted a philosophy to completely understand a situation before acting, and that keeps me out of trouble, and un-brainwashed by anyone I am a fan of or idolize. I also try and stay away from drama, but as fandom veterans probably know, that doesn't always work out.

Please comment and discuss below, no calling out names.

Popufurs have one advantage over celebrities though. I've noticed that for a popufur to deal with stalkers and the like it's fairly easy. They rarely even have them, from what I've seen.

    However, celebrities...goddamn.

I just heard the other day that a rapper named G-Dragon had to put out on his FB and his Twitter the other day, basically a "leave me the fuck alone" because fans were HIDING OUT AROUND HIS HOUSE to creep on him and were terrifying his family.

This is true, UNLESS you are at a furry convention. Then there is three days of being stalked.

Oh god that is all too true -- people just don't get personal space sometimes!
