To FA Users Coming to Weasyl by EbonyChimera
Hey those trying out Weasyl. When FA comes back up, please don't abandon the site. At least give it a 30 day trial if anything.
There's no reason why you can't just cross post on another site! It's just extremely frustrating that no one really wants to try out other sites. It's even more so when it's like, "Oh, I'm just waiting for FA to come back up" What's the point of making a weasyl account then if you aren't going to utilize it? What's more frustrating is that FA users complain a lot about the site, and administration. I get it, I feel your pain.
I know where you're coming from. You want updates You want change. Before I was permanently banned from FA, I wanted to see changes and improvements on the website just as bad as the next person. I've been on FA since the very beginning as Mel-the-Hybrid, and after I changed my name to Kayla-Na. I STILL want to see FA improve, even if I'm not on it! I want to see Weasyl be utilized, because even though it's a work-in-progress, IT SHOWS PROMISE!
You want better customer service from administration. From what I've seen unless the userbase puts a huge FLAME under admin's patootie, alot of those promises are not going to be kept. Because you've fallen back to a slump where it's like -- Well, it still works at least, that's good enough for me." Until it craps out again a week later.
And to those relying on FA as your SOLE place for income, BRANCH OUT. What's going to happen when FA goes down for good? Plan ahead for that shit! Why do you think I've got accounts on other websites and image boards? So people will know that I'm still here, and where they can find me.

Totally agreed with this. I hope this time people will understand that FA is great just because of people on it. And because it's very active.
The website itself is meh and we can totally move to a other website in somedays...
I just wait.
Now I will post in priority on Weasyl, and then maybe advert on FA.

Amen to that. I'm trying to hint to my friends and other ppl on SoFurry, Inkbunny and DA that Weasyl is good, it just needs to be tried out and accepted as a site.
I personally like Weasyl, design wise and all that. Well made in my opinion, we just need to show that to others.

What's also cool from a design perspective is the responsive design which adopts perfectly for smartphones. Clearly one of the benefits Weasyl has had being created with modern tools and web standards.

I'm writing from my HTC One and the experience has been damn good. Although there is an app for FA on the Play Store, but it's so "hhhnnggggg" I'm using the unoptimized desktop site on my mobile devices because the handling is better. The desktop site of FA works better than an app, go figure xD
On Weasyl you just go to the website and you never feel like there is the need for an app whatsoever. And that's awesome!

It's mostly because on Weasyl you get a fresh start, and lose whatever watcher base you had before.

oh wow thanks for the link, I've been using both FA and weasyl for a while, now I will watch some other folks here... Just wish they join weasyl too and keep active. Also I found some other furs that has different weasyl accounts, gonna correct them in this site to help in the future.

Word. I typically don't bother signing up for something unless I can foresee myself actually using it. Weasyl suits my needs as a writer, where FA falls dreadfully short, so it works out better for me to be here.
And about putting flames under the admins, if you'll allow me a PSA? Keep it cool. You can pressure, petition, request, etc. admins to get the changes you want, guys, but don't be fucking pricks about it. All too often I see all-out flamewars or vicious personal attacks against devs because of features or lack thereof. It doesn't have to be black and white; you can make requests with pressure without resorting to death threats and name calling.

When I say fire, I mean pressure of keeping up with a competitor, I.E. a website that is as equally as popular for furries as FA is.

Oh, I see - Weasyl easily has that kind of potential, yes. Competition alone is a good incentive for improvement, especially if they're large community sites. In that case, user satisfaction is definitely the name of the game, and I hope FA can learn a thing or two about how to format text. ;)

I'll admit I made an account here a while back just so that I could continue seeing your art since I really love you Mac/Ash stuff. Being here now though I realized what a awesome site this is and I'm slowly adding in things to make my account more active. I'll still have my FA gallery but I'll more than likely be more active here from now on since...it really is just a better website I mean custom filter tags? HELL YEAH! XD

I'm planning to Migrate to Weasyl, Inkbunny and Sofurry tbh, and I'll be linking back to each on my FA page (When I fuckin can >.>;;) so that if they give two shits and aren't to lazy, my watchers can follow if they choose.

I intend to stay, at least. Weasyl's better in pretty much every way.
(But I'm not an artist or a popufur so where I post my occasional commissions won't make much difference anyway. :p)

This is why I haven't been active on this site, no one wants to leave their precious FA... Weasyl has ALL the features that people have been bitching about wanting on FA for years. I wish more people would give this place a try.

I mostly just grabbed an account on here just to take my name. Since someone else already grabbed it over on SoFurry. But trying stuff out on here, I've liked it so far. Just a shame the community is kind of dead. That's what makes it harder to leave than anything. Not that I get a lot of comments or anything on FA, but at least I know people are seeing my stuff and I'm not just pissing in the wind.

This site will lose a majority of its traffic and use when FA comes back up, I am certain. At least, until FA goes down again. And the cycle will continue.

i love/hate the whole branching out thing. for the last year i've spread feelers out in IB, SF, and weasyl, even thinking of piddling around in DA again. i mean hey, the larger the branch the more the chance of commissioners. but the majority of commissioners are stuck on FA and dont want to try anything else.. :/ i've had maybe 20-30 commissions over my 6 years on FA and only 2 on the year or more i've been on IB. i'll just keep thinking someday commissioners will branch out too someday. ^^

Oh my god, you're exactly saying what I'm thinking. I couldn't agree more. There isn't gonna be any change if Weasyl gets treated like a temporary solution if FA goes down. FA sure gets its job done, but there hasn't been any great improvements whatsoever. The concept of tags has been around for so long, the search function was long overdue and the commissions tab has been out cold for so long that its readoption is progressing at snail's pace, even to the point the artists have come up with a much more appealing solution in the meantime, there almost seems no need to readopt it.

Not being an artist, I haven't had much need to use Weasyl at all since I made the account.
So few of the people I watch on FA have come here yet.
Maybe in the future, when the site grows, who knows.
They frown on duplicate posts here, so I'll probably never actually post anything.

But all the art I post is drawn by other people who would also post it.

The last thing I wrote was something that involved a species that only live about 20 human years, so posting it would probably violate the rules.

its hard to get it this website have so many features good the stream stuff , commissions, fav journals etc and fa is very simple but is more popular somehow *shrugs* i just dont use to much this website since the watchers from my account fa and deviant art is more and the feedback aswell, when i post art here is like zombie place for me no feedback at all

Wish more people would come here.... *huff* PLEASE STAY! Sure, you may not get instant feedback, but if you keep posting or inviting more people, this WILL change. Pretty sure FA was the same way when it first started. You need to give this place time to grow and the only way it will is of you put effort into it.

The reason why people choose FA over this site is quite simple really. FA has a better community, artists have more followers and therefor a wider audience to advertise and sell their work. Until more artists begin to use this site (which they are so I may stay awhile) I'll make the change.
I mean if I can see the same content I love on FA what's the point of moving or viewing this site actively when the artist will post the same content? What this site needs is more artists that will only post there work here.

I understand that, personally it's a great site with enormous potential. It just needs a loyal community that can attract attention and bring more people in. Honestly, I want to help the site grow. I believe the first step in that is producing exclusive content.

Id be cool and all with the website [not like I already am anyway] but I kind of lost a bit of hope in them after seeing what the owner was doing on Twitter. He was being very Unprofessional business wise with all the showboating and bragging and the overall bashing of FA. Even after the people of FA REFERRED this website to all of its users as an alternative. I felt it was very uncalled for and very unprofessional.

Dragoneer has not shown professionalism himself, either, most recent is when he basically threw a hissy fit at Weasyl on twitter about a tool that helps people find the artists that they watch on FA to Weasyl.

is that so? well I suppose that makes them both just as equal as immature when it comes to attitude and maturity business wise. How disappointing. [although I'll admit, and I say this with much neutrality here, it doesn't surprise me that dragoneer would react in such as way. Had he not been very "hissy fit" about it, then I would have though different.] Some day I do hope a site would come out with good quality, layout, service, and maturity. One can always dream or just do it themselves if they had the patience.

I highly doubt they're equally immature. Dragoneer throws fits about everything, breaks his promises, and doesn't listen to users. As for the "owner" of this site (who even is that? There's multiple 'directors' so)...I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. This site is young, so he'd be new to running this whole thing, and everyone makes mistakes. It'd be easy enough to just ask him to knock it off and then see what happens from there. I don't think it's fair to pass judgment on someone from *one* incident.

oh dont you worry I haven't completely passed judgement on this website and its staff just yet, that was just my general thought, but when you out it that way, I do suppose you make hell of a point there, They are new after all and the website is still beta after all. With that,, I suppose I can take back my word on what I said there, but let it be known I still stand on neutral grounds here. I dont and will not pass judgement until it is directly necessary and I can say Ferrox Art is just about border lining there with me, but I'm not gonna confirm that just yet. I'm glad you stated that as well.

I would count Weasyl to my Main Galleries, like FA and dA.
THis site is just so awesome to use and I will try to hint people to this site, by not posting all the art I colored while the FA outage. xD
