Con + Job + Art Jams by NightWolf714

Aka, why NightWolf's been so quiet lately. XD

It's been a rather busy past few weeks for puppy. Which is why I'm just now getting around to writing this up, lol. So the beginning of November was FangCon. That was a crazy but fun weekend! Got there Friday morning and pretty much immediately got to work. Picked up our badges, dropped off carnival prizes, set up the plinko board that we made, unpacked, realized we left things at home and went shopping, and then finally got some lunch in our bellies. Lol. A lot of the con was split up between running around working it and sitting down just chilling. Probably not as much of the latter as I would have liked, though. Overall, it was a great time. Plus, it was the first time wearing my costume with the full outfit (though I left the shepard's crook by accident) (I wore the costume once before, but didn't have the kilt and all to go with it). It was a blast. I got so many many people saying how cute it was. ^_^ And I was in The Furry Drama Show (a variety show) which was slightly scary at first but a lot of fun. We had some minor snaffus but overall the con went amazingly well.

Best parts of all? We grew this year (we were worried about that since we changed location and some other things), we raised nearly $2000 for our charity, beating last year's amount (I think we'll still figuring out the exact amount), and we even raised a good amount for a security personal at the hotel who had experienced a bad house fire. Furries can be pretty dang amazing at times. :)

And we're already hard at work for next year's con! No rest for this pack, lol. We're doing a 1960's theme with a strong base on the music of that time. Very excited about it. And we're been going through, adding some new staff too to make things run even smoother this coming year.

Then there's my new job. I started my general orientation the Monday after the con. Yeah, that was a really long week. I'm working as a nurse at a residential treatment center for children. Ages range from 8-18 so quite the spread. Some have been victims of some trauma (at least, there primarily for that since many of the kids had some trauma) but most are there because of acting out either aggressive or acting out sexually inappropriately. The whole place is based on a mix of therapy, medical care, and trying to help them get through the normal stages of adolescents. Yeah, pretty busy at times. We have 80+ kids that are currently living there.

As far as nursing jobs go, it's pretty nice. I've more or less finished up my orientation. I'll almost always be with another nurse so that's nice. And I've started my regular shift which will be evenings during the business week with alternating shifts on the weekend. It's better than it could be, but it'll take some adjustment. For one thing, Norv may be altering his work schedule a bit to go in later so we have more time in the morning. Still, 3-11pm isn't the end of the world and we'll make it through. And hopefully now it'll even out since lately I'd been doing slightly more than 40 hours. ^_^;;;

Main downside with the job is that I'll be working all the holidays. At least I get holiday pay for it and those mornings so that's nice. But trips are harder. On the other hand, weekends I have off are 3-day weekends. I'm hoping to trade a Monday shift with someone near Christmas time so that I can go down to visit my family. We'll have to see.

So work is crazy, and I'll miss the time I had off. On the other hand, I like feeling productive and using my nursing skills. While the job is crazy at times and can be stressful, I do love it and the people I'm working with. I even like the kids most of the time, lol. It'll just take some adjustment and I'll now have to make better use of my time off (particularly when it's a time Norv is off too).

So that's my life right now. I'm hoping to pick up the art jams again starting in January, once the holidays are over and my body gets a few weeks to adjust to the new schedule. I'll probably continue posting them on the TN Furries site, and possibly the Nashville Bronies page as well, but they will be mostly coordinated through Facebook since that seems like the easiest way for everyone to get the information. Looking forward to getting into that again since that will encourage more traditional (aka pencil and paper) artwork. Though I have been doing some sewing and other things lately. ^_^

Okay, I think that's everything! Talk with you all later~
