After a long battle... by Kraest

I am so...SO glad to have somewhere that is not SoFurry to post my art. I announced yesterday that I was leaving the site because no matter how many times I stated that I do not want my art added to any groups, the users continuously disregarded that. There's also a huge issue with the coding over there that makes it so that only the admin of a group can remove art from a group.

Firstly, that's actually a breach of copyright law. I understand that it's just another thumbnail that leads to a piece in my gallery, but I don't want the label of that group on my art. And any label given to it without my permission that I can't remove is against copyright law.

Which leads to my second point, artistic misrepresentation. I am not a vore fetishist, neither am I a foot fetishist. I have pictures that show a character with their mouth open, and pictures that show the bottoms of a character's feet. I have these because I am an artist, and the pictures needed these angles which made these things visible. It does not mean that I am into vore or feet, and I don't want my pictures to be in groups centred around these fetishes because I'm not into that and I don't want others to think that I am after finding my art in groups centred around those fetishes.

Thirdly, and this is the biggest reason I have turned my back on that site and closed the door for good, upon reading my journal which stated my reasons for leaving, one of the site mods' first response was not, "I'm sorry you have these issues with the site, but SoFurry 3.0 is on its way", it was "don't let the door hit you on the way out", and calling me childish for wanting control over my art and what happens to it on an ART website. They actually asked me what possible reason I could have for not wanting my art in any groups, and demanded to know why I felt that the site admins and coders should bend over backward for me.

Learn by example, everyone; this is not the way your admins should act when a very serious issue, such as a breach in copyright law, is brought up.

This, all of this, is why I am so appreciative of all of the admins here. I've spoken to a few admins, and in fact had a great back and forth with morphology about the rating system here and how the explanations for a few of the ratings in the rating system were rather ambiguous. You know what I saw the next time I uploaded a piece? The wording for the ratings had been changed to be more specific. I was blown away. Never would I have ever expected that my comments could change something on a website, let alone so quickly.

So Weasyl admins and staff, you have my utmost thanks for giving me such a great place to post my art. I am so thankful to have a gallery here where I know that, if I make a mistake and need to be approached by an admin, I know that I will be approached with kind professionalism. I know that if there are problems here, they are resolved quickly and efficiently.

Above all, I know that I'll be keeping my art here for a long, long time.

Thank you.

After a long battle...
