I am officially not using my DeiantArt anymore. No more uploads, and all art aside from fanart and F2U content have been stored. (That was 3K worth of art. and frikken hell DA only lets you store 20 at a time. that was killer). If you want to continue viewing my content, my list of active artsites can be found here: https://ulurifox.wixsite.com/uluri/site-listÂ
It is 100% best right now. They are starting to slowly promote and incorporate NFTs as per the last few TEAM journals they've posted.
Oh. My. God. How absolutely and utterly insane. Given how much art is stolen for becoming NFTs…..how is DA going to prevent that if they’re going to promote NFTs? :/
I can’t decide if they’re trying to drive users away or just appeal to new ones. A lot of their decisions that I hear from you and other people just seem so beyond propriety that it’s stupid. @_@
DA has been on the downwards for a while now, ever since they started ignoring users complaints and all but encouraging theft of art by putting in that stupid rule of "well if the original artist doesn't say it's stolen then there's nothing we can do". Given their response to outright theft on there it's no shock they would be into NFT's
On the "If OG doesn't say anything" argument, There was one time someone was mistaken for stealing my art when they were allowed to use that artwork, and they Horrendously Piled on, reported, and harrassed that person before ever contacting me to confirm if they were allowed to use it or not. The whole "Won't do anything unless OG says" is actually very important and prevented that person from getting a strike/Ban wrongly. Sadly, though, that person decided to never return to online art spaces because of that. It's a rule I appreciate existing because someone would have been wrongly suspended/banned without it. I appreciate art sites that do have this, and even DA has an email for people not on DA to contact them.
Aside from that, how they've handled and done things over the years has been extremely frustrating to say the least. They've ripped apart and demolished the site in such a way its a catastrophe to use. It is awful that they would be using NFTs at all being an art site. It's a thick as hell line they really crossed. Like a mile thick line.
I wouldn't mind the og artist needs to step in first if there wasn't so many thieves that didn't even try to hide they were stealing on top of ban evading. Maybe I have been gone from DA so long that they fixed it and I didn't know but when I was still active over there it felt like every day more and more accounts would appear just uploading art that wasn't theirs.
I even had some of my own works stolen back when I was on there and the only reason I even knew about itwas because another user had been reporting the stolen works and told me that despite them providing links to my originals they were still told unless I got involved the mods wouldn't take action. The mods didn't contact me to let me know about the theft and if I wanted to take action, so if that user hadn't decided to follow up and talk to me that person would have kept plundering my works without my knowledge.
Although I suppose the flip to this coin would be Youtube where everything is struck regardless of if you are the og or not, so if DA found that middle ground kudos.
I think the mods have been slowly trying to convert DA into a social media platform for professional artists without taking into account the majority of their users are not professionals and were trying to get away from social media platforms. They are really obsessed with this looking professional thing but nobody is using DA as a professional platform when Art Station already fills that niche and the appeal of DA was anyone of all levels and styles could go there and not feel out of place.
Sorry for the giant ramble mess of a reply, it's 3am and I am running on fumes x.x

Wow. It might be best from all I hear about DA though.
