Random Pokemon Nonsense by keirajo
So, while I have yet to find time to watch the new trailer, I did read the info that Serebii.net had up for the new PKMN Scarlet/Violet reveals.
Hey, I'm all about a new dog-type Pokemon...........but I guess we're sticking with FOOD-KIND Fairy-type Pokemon. @_@ If it looks kinda like a bagel now............what will it's evolution chain reveal (if it has one--sometimes they don't). A better design than Bolthund, I hope.
And a WALKING WHALE. Sure, we needed that, too. XD
And, finally, to be honest--we ALL knew there would be a REGIONAL FORME for Pokemon. It's nice to see Wooper (and Quagsire, too, maybe?) get a bit of love with Regional Formes now. I always thought the goofy grin made these Pokemon rather adorable. :D
Plus, of course, a new game mechanic.........because we don't have enough of those..........and it's really just a new version of everything that's come before. I guess I'll know more once I watch the trailer? shrug To be completely frank with you guys, though..........I really thought this reveal would give us the second evolution of the starters, not just ONLY a couple random Pokemon. We're only a few months out from the game and I'm honestly surprised we haven't really seen more about the game than they've given us at this point.
All that out of the way, though...........as I was checking books for condition/damage at work today (the Library), had a Pokemon book come through. There was a Pokemon in it that I always forget the existence of.
Komala.
I'll be the first to admit--never finished Sun/Moon. Or UltraSun/UltraMoon. In fact, I'm not at all certain I got further than 4 island challenges at the most? I don't believe I ever got far enough in any of those four games to catch a Komala. I never got that one bird Pokemon evolved far enough to become Toucannon, either--but at least I remember Toucannon as a Pokemon.
Komala, though.........every time I see it in a Pokemon book, I'm like--THAT'S a Pokemon? Oh yeah, I guess it is. XD
Do you guys have any Pokemon you forget the existence of? Or Pokemon you've seen pictures of and didn't even realize it was a Pokemon? :)

Yeah..........it's getting to be that they're trying to make the new games so "common denominator accessible" and "multiplayer fun"--those of us who loved and enjoyed the classic games for the single player/but interactive joys that they were are really losing out on "modern" Pokemon for sure. I guess that's one thing that made Arceus good--but then it wasn't technically completely done by GameFreak, so..............maybe we need more games not done by GameFreak? XD
I saw the dog and.........it's clear the base was Yamper in the design. But. Food. I just can't. @_@

i never really caught up on pokemon now adays im stuck with the original 150 pokemon :P

I enjoyed the series through Diamond/Pearl, but after that they began to put in too many gimmicks, changed leveling and stuff—I haven’t really finished games since then (except the HGSS and ORAS remakes). Even my Black or White game……I finished the “main” story, but you face the Elite Four after the credits—so I never got around to that stuff. Most others after that, I’ve never made it through the Gym Leaders or getting the Legendary Pokémon! XD

Wow, it’s been a minute since I play Pokémon, specifically Pokémon Go. Wasn’t too deep in the games, but loved watching the show!

I stopped watching the anime at Black/White. XD Though I have been told “Journeys” is actually pretty good—and I just saw Lance was in some episodes recently, so I might have to! :)
I like the classic games, I could do without multiplayer and gimmicks, though. :/

Last time I watched the show was in 2016 I can't remember too much cause that's when I started binge watching YouTube.
Honestly, that go game barley lasted for me because of how grindy it was and the microtransactions. Last time I played it was in 2020. I just simply lost interest in it. 🤷♂️
But I might check out some of the more traditional Pokemon when I get the chance.-
Yeah, Pokémon Masters for the mobile is the same way. I tried that one and it’s SOOOOOO super-grindy. :<
I recommend playing one of the remakes they’ve put out for the DS/3DS if you can—either HeartGold/SoulSilver or OmegaRuby/AlphaSapphire. They both expanded greatly (tons of extra stuff to do beyond the story) on the original games, but left the original games intact. :)

Even if Boltund's design is up to snuff, I still like it to be honest. It reminds me of the Disney character from my childhood <3
I do think some of the artists and designers behind them monsters might be running out of ideas though x_x-
The eyes seem way too big for the face to me. XD
Given how much Fidough looks like Yamper and nearly every electric rodent resembles Pikachu—yeah, originality has gone down hill for unique designs. At least the new Legendaries look a bit more unique—since Zamazenta and Zacian looked like cosplay Lycanroc! XD

Well every electric rodent looking like Pikachu I figured would be excusable since that's the point of the Pikachu family, but I haven't seen the new legendaries yet. Although I think Zacian and Zamazenta look more diverse from Lycanroc, I get why others seeing them would feel that way. I do think we could use more wolves since Lycanroc as a common Pokemon seems lonely. :<

I’m all for more great canine Pokémon myself! :)
But it seems like we get more cats than canines in this universe sometimes. I would like to see them break from some of their stereotyping of Types, though. There’s too often a design falls into a type because of look—like this Fidough becoming a Fairy-type because it looks like food.

True. I hardly draw any cat based fakemon, but if I were on the design team, I'd love to see an ice-type Pallas cat based Pokemon if they're going to stick to so many cats.

I don’t think we’ve had an Ice-type feline yet, have we? Design-wise, there’s a lot that can be done with such a character! :)
I always find it so ironic that before Litten came out—like 3 years before!—I’d done a Pokémon fan-fic where I created 3 new Starters and 2 new Legendaries. My Fire-type starter was a cat (Flickerkit)! My Water-type Starter was a dog, though (Bubblepup) and the Grass-type was a bird (Leafwing). My Legendaries were Ice (a frost wolf named Frostrey) and Grass (a unicorn named Bloomhoof). :)

This was a very disappointing news reveal. I'm upset the motercycle Pokemon doesn't use it's tires. Also, the food dog the back of my brain whispered "creampie ear Fleshlight dog" and now I can't even look at it. XD I think it's another main series game 8m skipping.
