March[MID MONTH] Journal Update by KI-Fennec

I’m Back!

  • I feel that I'm ready to return! Had to take a break due to a family member passing away, but I’m pretty much over the grieving stage. Still miss them though.

  • As far as how active I’m going to be, I'm not 100% sure.

Art/Writing/Other Projects

  • Just did another art trade! I would do one more, but I want to start focusing on doing some art on my newer OCs.

  • Well, I managed to clear a roadblock in my worldbuilding and hit a stride. I found that one of my OCs has a few traits that can be tied to the overall lore and about half of the world’s function. So it should be easy to come up with quick ideas. Might be finished with it sometime between May-July depending on what happens IRL.

Sites Status

  • Nothing too major besides me returning.

  • Although I’ve heard Furriffic is shutting down. I’ll have more of that in a separate journal.

This concludes this update. I might have a couple of more journals expanding on the whole situation with furrific and another topic related to that. Anyways, see you soon and I hope you enjoy the new art I’ve just uploaded!

Woo! Glad to see you're returning and can't wait to see more from you! ^^

      **Thanks! **

I got quite a bit planned!

It sounds like a lot of sites are having trouble lately.........I've seen a couple of people talk about Buzzly's problems and I know DeviantArt continues it's downwards spiral, too.

I knew something was off when an artist I regularly follow had made a journal about how they got banned from buzzly due to their opinion on things and people being hostile. Another person on on February update journal on here said they switched the site to invite only after some time. And just about an hour ago or so, another artist I followed on SketchersUnited said the following:
“FOR ANYONE WHO IS STILL ON BUZZLY!!
I highly recommend you log into your account and delete all your art from there and follow everyone you want to keep in contact with from there on other platforms, buzzly is headed for the worse and it's just not a safe space anymore, I'm so sorry for ever recommending it, it was just too good to be true :'D”

They even left this link: https://twitter.com/nymlyz/status/1503885190636089344

Honestly buzzly is just a total mess right now. I was going to make a journal on the situation, but I’m not sure if it’s even worth the time.

As for DeviantART, after the whole Eclipse debacle, the place has been rather quiet. I still get a hand full of faves, but rarely any comments. Quite a few people either moved to Newgrounds, instagram or Twitter. And when I went to some of the user’s twitter’s even they were gone! Other than that, there’s still some active users there.

At this rate, I’m considering deleting my account from buzzly and reopening my Instagram along with finding two more sites to upload to.

Those were the kinds of journals I'd been seeing about people on Buzzly, too. Including getting locked out of being able to delete their own art and the account, because they wanted to leave--the site wasn't allowing them to take down their own artwork and that's just crass of the devs. From what it sounded like from one person, one of the devs was actually stealing artwork from artists on the site--so, I can see why devs might be preventing you from deleting your own artwork (in a very bad way).

I suppose the way the world's working now--it's hard to find a GOOD "free to use" site. It may come to the day when anyone who wants to use a gallery site like these, will have to pay a subscription service fee instead. If it comes to that point--I hope it will be sites that can pay their staff in order to maintain a site well and keep it nice, good and functioning properly. I guess with so many people dealing with art theft and having their art turned into NFTs--I can't blame people for being quiet and inactive on sites. I wonder if a lot of people are just scared of being online now, as dark as it's become.......? :/

I just cleaned my gallery out yesterday after my reply. Looked at the front page and it’s just post of people leaving. Crazy. At this rate, I might have to start looking for another site to post on. Maybe reopen up my Instagram or give Facebook, Twitter or Newgrounds a try. However I am a little afraid that FB might link me to some of my high school classmates who aren’t too fond of this type of stuff, kinda toxic even.

As for the NFT bit, it’s just awful. All that hard work being snatched up and sold at exuberant prices, profiting off other’s work…
I did see someone on TH mention that, so they hid most of their stuff. Now that I think of it, I might start setting my page to registered user only and make it to where my art doesn’t show up on google search.

It’s never good when a site basically nukes itself like that. @_@

I’ve seen several people I follow on Toyhou.se mention the art theft/NFT thing. It’s appalling that this happens, it worse than normal art theft. sigh
