Artists, Commissions, And Schedules (Oh My!) by v--r

I'm not sure what this is. I've never been much of a journal posting kind of guy as you can probably tell from whenever ago was my last journal posting. But unless I have a specific point to make I like to think of it a bit like a diary, I think? A diary that I know people can read. Anyway I wanted to talk about my where I'm currently at and some plans for the future.

Being an artist is exhausting. I'm my own manager, my own work force. From decision to execution I've got to do it all which is pretty tiring at times but I do it all for you! Hopefully in the future though I'll get to the port of warranting some kind of team. I know I'll probably never let anyone else handle any art related stuff but I wouldn't mind a manager that can keep me on a schedule.

Commissions are extra exhausting. Some time ago back when I was in school I only ever had a small reach of popularity, hell I'm still pretty small. But regardless I was smaller so I only ever got commissioned very sparsely. But then one day I started doing vrchat commissions and I seemed to find my niche as since then it's been challenging juggling people coming in wanting to have something done. I have to comb through the inquiries I get, talk to clients about their needs, and then of course I need to actually make the models all nice and pretty and most importantly to what my client ordered. It's really time consuming and something I'm still fully getting used to now as I find the best process of doing things and continue to evolve!

Schedules have never been a thing I've been good at. I'm pretty thankful to the fact that I learned pretty quickly back in school because I'd never make time to (or wanted to) study; I didn't get perfect grades but the only class I ever failed the rest of the class also failed so that time the teacher just was terrible at their job. I've tried a few times to give myself a proper schedule since I'm self employed I know it's really important to do so; but I'm not good at following them. My usual "schedule" as of late is wake up and get on the computer to do a mix of commission work and whatever else comes across my screen. Which honestly is probably not healthy! Hopefully I can actually set a schedule for myself that I can stick to because I've got some plans.

The future is confusing. I think I've found the long winded reason for this post. I haven't been as active with posting art as I used to be since I started taking on commissions and it makes me feel terrible because I know a lot of you do enjoy what I make and I want to give you what you want. I think I'm slowly starting to get a proper handle on the whole commissions business so I'm hoping to start posting regular art again soon, not only that but I have a few other goals in mind like finally using my YouTube channel for actual YouTube videos. I'd love to do analysis videos or something similar, still figuring out what the topic is gonna be.

Thank you for all of my fans who have been sticking around, it really means a lot and whenever I get a favorite or a comment it always warms me up inside knowing that someone did enjoy something that I made! I doubt I'm anyone's "favorite" artist but I'll work hard to change that!
