I just read this on Serebii this morning:
"Previews for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl have been released through various outlets. Within these there's some new information about the games. First, according to Vooks, the game will now include Auto Save, which can be disabled. According to Vooks and Nintendo World Report, Experience Share is also back and affects all Pokémon, but like Sword & Shield, it cannot be turned off. The mechanics including QoL upgrades shown within past generations have also returned such as showing type effectiveness in battle. TMs are also single use in the game, but there will be opportunities to get more
According to Polygon, you can change the Pokémon in your party with Pokémon in storage at any time."
So, in essence--they're utilizing more of the features in Sword/Shield than I personally wanted. Is it just me or does the EXP All thing bother any of you guys, too? In the OLD DAYS, you had a thing you could turn on or off on whether you wanted all your Pokemon to get experience or just one of them. Frankly, I don't know why they cannot allow you to turn this function on and off...........especially if they are going to allow you to disable the auto-save feature. :/
I find EXP All especially counterproductive if you're carrying eggs and accidentally wind up in a battle right after one hatches (it happened more to me when riding a bike in S/S than anything)--BAM suddenly your new Pokemon is at level 20, when you had no intention of that whatsoever. Or in the cases of Pokemon that evolve via friendship or those other tricky things when you're not sure when they'll evolve at all--again, an accidental battle can ruin all of that. THIS SHOULD BE AN OPTIONAL FUNCTION OF THE GAME--NOT AND AUTOMATIC FUNCTION.
This also, though not stated, probably means they're keeping the "the higher your levels, the less EXP an area's Pokemon will give you in battle"--this, too, is an RPG mechanic I hate. And it's designed to stop you from doing non-stop levelling in a particular area. Personally I liked knowing that if the Graveler in that area gave you 200XP every time you battled them, you knew how soon and how close you could get to level up--especially in the cases of those technical evolutions I mentioned above. Theoretically...........I see them also giving EXP aids (like S/S), maybe through the Underground, unless we're going to have Max Raid dens in this game, too......if it hasn't been announced already and I just missed it from being offline a lot more in the past month.
Darn you, GameFreak--just stop already. Just stop catering to the "lowest common denominator" (new player to the series)--you CAN make these things optional so that newbies can play it easy and those of us who like our old-school Pokemon and all its challenges can have a real Pokemon game. :<
Though I will applaud them going back to single use TM's--there's a challenge right there. Now you have to pick and choose who you want to use that TM on. XD
I will admit, though--I did find the "switch with storage at any time" function actually useful. Though it does fall in the "too easy" category as well. wry laugh When I am levelling up lots of different Pokemon, it was nice not to have to run/fly/teleport back into town for the next batch of Pokemon--especially if you're in the middle of nowhere levelling up. XD
I'll still be getting the games though. At this point.........why stop buying them when I've got all of them already. chuckle How about you guys? Planning on getting Shining/Brilliant? :)
I find it more inconvenient when you’re trying to do specific evolutions, but want to keep particular Pokémon in your party—this can also go for that auto-save function, too. Like the Eevee-lutions. The friendship ones are tricky—while you can predict whether it’ll become Espeon or Umbreon, if you’re not careful (and get rid of that Fairy move like the default “Babydoll Eyes”), you might wind up with a Sylveon instead, since it’s not stuck at a day or night specific time. See, I like to always keep my Starter and never put it in the box—it’s a thing I do……so my Starter becomes level 100 when most of my other Pokémon are only level 50-60 near the end of the story mode. XD I always worry about it disobeying me before I get that last badge.
I feel like the EXP All should be a function you can turn on or off, like in the old days—it shouldn’t be forced on all users. That way people who don’t want to share EXP with all their Pokémon at once can turn the function off. If they really want to make Pokémon an inclusive game for all (not just targeting newbies all the time) they could give the option of turning features on and off. I don’t think something like that would be difficult—it’s like choosing a game difficulty, Easy/Hard/Super-Hard. XD
I’m rather surprised they’re not springing on us some sort of new evolution thing to add to the Mega, Gigantamax and all those forme changes we’ve already had. Then again, I guess there’s still one more month-ish in that they could spring it on us. Plus they could very well come up with extra DLC story stuff like S/S. I’m curious to know if these games will add the Platinum bonus story of Giratina or not—like how HeartGold/SoulSilver gave us Crystal’s bonus storyline with Suicune.

Unpopular opinion, but I personally like the new gameplay function of my entire team gaining experience, even if they don't participate in battle. It saves me the headache of having to use that EXP Share on low level bug Pokemon. That's probably just me, I guess. Not everyone likes having more than one Pokemon level up at the same time.
My only complaint is that it appears they won't be bringing Mega Evolution back anytime soon, and I really want my Mega Infernape! 😢
