Photoshop problems by zarathus

Photoshop's colors have suddenly started banding for me.

I am very confused to why this has happened, and moreso to how I can fix it.

I've reset photoshop, adjusted color settings, tried various versions of my graphics card's drivers. Nothing seems to be helping at all.

And doing some internets research into possible fixes.. practically everyone just says the same thing. "oh just add noise, there's no other way to fix banding"

... what? Aside from me never having this issue up until now.

So if anyone has any ideas that would be excellent :|

This sucks a lot because I have commissions that still need to be finished, and I can't really take on any more digital commissions if the quality is going to come out this poorly :/ Augh.

Banding on the screen or in print?

On the screen, on the files I'm working on.

Weird! Does the banding show up on other screens or programs? Like for instance if you open it in MSpaint assuming your using a PC.

And if I could ask, is it everything or just when you're using gradients?

Maybe change your files to 16 bits when you start them. More bits means more colors so less banding.

There's always a little bit of banding in a gradient, especially if it's 1 color over a transparency or white. And adding subtle noise can get rid of that.

You can also try calibrating your screen.

I'm sorry you're having trouble with it, I know that stuff is annoying :C
