Living with OCD by RDK

Before I even knew what this disastrous mental illness was I would always be so careful of everything I did and anything I owned to the point of never wanting anything to have the slightest scratch on it. It wasn't until I saw the movie titled "As Good as it Gets" with Jack Nicholson that I realized I had the same symptoms as he was playing on that film, and a name with it. I was diagnosed years later and have been battling it ever since.

In the mid-2000s this thing hit me so hard I could not even pick up a pencil and draw anything. Not sure if that was responsible but I am sure it was part of the massive artist block I suffered for well over a year and never able to draw anything at all while I was going through it. I think I was able to do anything after 2011, which was a slow and painful reintroduction into art but was thankful I could once again draw anything at all.

My OCD was more manageable during that time as well, although even today I do get relapses and as much as I fight it, it just sticks like gum on hair and as hard as to get rid of so I can function once more. However I can state I can deal with it a whole lot better once I knew more about it and am not ever let it interfere that much in my life again.
