Hamilton the musical - review by JohnStripedfur

Ever since I heard of this musical, all I keep hearing that it's good. Everytime I go on iTunes, the Hamilton soundtrack is among the top selling albums in music. But, no one said why it's good or how it's good or anything at all. Just that it's good. I wanted to see it so I can see what the hype is all about, but the tickets are very hard to get and more expensive than any Broadway musical play. So, the only way I could ever see it is either by national tour or there be a film version. Luckily, Disney+ has it and finally I get to see what the hype is all about on this particular play. I just hope it's not like High School Musical or The Greatest Showman where people only like those movies is because of the songs alone.

After watching the play itself on Disney+, I can see it definitely earned the hype. It's a stupendous production with great sets, great acting, great singing, and pretty nice songs. Though, I had a hard time to follow most since most were rap songs. Had to sue the closed caption so I can know what they were saying. Once I did that, I was enthralled on the play. As a history buff, it's almost everything I love to see. Considering before all of this, I never heard much about Alexander Hamilton except that he's on the $10 bill, being the first Secretary of Treasury by middle school history, and that famous Got Milk commercial in the 1990's where this guy who is a huge history buff and he is listening to the radio on some contest and the host spoke the question, "Who shot Alexander Hamilton in a duel?" And he was making a peanut butter sandwich and was eating it when he received the call. He tried to answer Aaron Burr, but his mouth was full of peanut butter. He tried to drink some milk to talk, but he was all out and the host said time was up and hung up. Leaving the poor guy sitting there eating his sandwich and the commercial ended with the famous words, "Got Milk". That's the only thing I knew about Hamilton. So, this play and also going to the Hamilton's home The Grange in New York City, had me learned a whole lot than I ever knew about the man and glad I did.

So, this play is definitely worth the hype and a watch. If you love musicals and US history, especially the founding of our country, you would really enjoy this musical play.
