Status and Commissions, Possibly Selling Old Artwork by ArrJaySketch

I figure I owe everyone some thoughts and an explanation.

So, regarding my present status: I was let go of my contract job on December 27th with one day warning (was supposed to at least go out to March), AND immediately after I got hit pretty hard with a bad cold. It might have been the flu. I am not sure; it really wasn't fun. Both the unexpected unemployment and illness left me feeling pretty low, which I am now climbing out of just now.

Commission Status: commissions are still a thing I'm working hard to balance. I can say I've done a LOT of work on myself over the years; I've identified and fixed many, many personal problems. I've faced a lot of issues and resolved them. I am seeing where my obstacles lie: right now, it's hard to do anything when I'm feeling down. When I'm working, it's hard to feel like doing anything when I am exhausted.

The problem with both cases is that I am waiting for the zone to come to me, which will rarely ever happen. I am trying to figure out how to get excited about getting in the zone. I am thinking about putting together a "fun idea list" to get excited about doodling every single day. Then, once I get started it will be easier to want to keep going!

Lastly, I have finally decided that I am completely OK with selling some of my old originals. For a long time, I didn't want to because of poor quality (any yellow dye from Prismacolor markers tended to bleed a LOT, so yellows/oranges have been badly affected). I think there was a lot of shame issues I needed to work through with my old art; let's just say I've worked through it and no longer feel any shame about work I've done.

So, right now, I'm gauging interest. I could use the money!

I am still here, and art is still fun, long story short art tends to fall away first when times get tough and I want to make my desire to do art more resilient.

I've noticed that with Prismacolors, over the years. It even affects things like some greens as well--as they have yellow in them. If you laminate them, it's a whole lot worse than that--the "halos" grow a lot bigger.

I hope that you can get to where you want to be, soon--best of luck to you! :)
