Thanks guys. by krowsy

I want to thank everyone who commented on my last journal. Even if I didn't respond to your comment, I read every single one and took it to heart. I've gained a good bit of insight.

I think this all boils down to my own perception of my art, and how I am my own worst critic. But hey, that's how it is with every artist, right? So from this day forward things are gonna change a bit.

I'm going to draw what I want, when I want, and not have a second thought about it. If I want to use neon colors, monochromatic, or no color at all, I'll do it. I realize now that my art is unique. It's unique because I did it. All of your comments brought me back to a quote that my illustration professor gave me while I was in college. It's a beautiful quote, and I honestly think that it summarizes all the advice and comments that I've received since yesterday. I want to share it with you good, good people. Thank you.

"There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium: and it will be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is, nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly. to keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware directly to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open.

No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction, a blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive than the others."

-Martha Graham
