Pacific Rim, oh my gooooooosh by Boo3

I've seen it twice already and both times were an incredible experience. I highly recommend it. People were consistently ooh-ing and ahh-ing at the movie, too. It was a genuinely awe-inspiring experience.

Del Toro has created not only a superbly entertaining summer blockbuster, but a movie about humanity's best qualities. Told through the medium of giant robots punching even gianter monsters straight in their face, holy crap. Plus you can actually tell what's going on. The 3D also definitely works for this movie. You really get an impression of how impossibly huge these monsters and machines really are.

Also something that's (sadly) refreshing is that the movie doesn't perversely focus on the loss of human life. There's collateral damage in spades, but the Rangers' main priorities are always to minimize loss of life and the movie makes it clear that, while not perfect, there's a solid infrastructure in place to guide people to safety in the event of a Kaiju attack.

It's an original breath of fresh air with absolutely gorgeous monster and robot designs. Really solid movie overall and I will see it probably three more times at least. Holy jeez.

Plus Ron Perlman has the most amazing suit in this. That alone is worth the price of admission.

SEE IT.
