Maleficent: Mistress of Evil - movie review by JohnStripedfur

I think a lot of people know about my opinions of the Maleficent movie. I didn't like it at all. Maleficent wasn't Maleficent at all. The story was very weak. The visuals were pretty good, but that's the only good thing. Though, I know a few people who actually like the movie and I can see some of the reasons why they do. But for me, I just don't like it. If you can separate it from the original animated movie or if the original animated movie never existed, then this movie would definitely be the definitive one.

That being said, there are many examples why some movies shouldn't get sequels. Maleficent is one of them. And the sequel is not good. The only reason why there is a sequel is because the first one made some money and they think they can do it again. I had a feeling it'll be like the Alice in Wonderland scenario. The first one made a lot of money and they made a sequel hoping to recreate the same thing. The difference between the Alice movies and the Maleficent movies is that there is a reason for a sequel for Alice in Wonderland because of the book. Maleficent has no reason to get a sequel.

The sequel itself is not very good. The visual are pretty looking, though. But, the story, the characters, and everything else was bad. Much of it didn't make sense. It's very predictable. You know how it will end up once it gets to the third act. I can tell they are trying to make it good and the actors tried their best with a not so good script, but it's not enough to save it. Once again, it's not what they advertise it to be. The title itself is extremely misleading. Maleficent wasn't Maleficent again. If both of those movies were under different titles and the characters are under different names, both of them could've been something good.

Overall, if you like the first one, you'll like the sequel. If you didn't like the first one, you wouldn't like the sequel.
