Season 8 Draft

WORLDWIDE, October 15th, 2019 -

With the completion of retention, the league is now ready to start the Season 8 Draft, which is scheduled to begin on Friday, October 18th, 2019 at 6:20 EDT. Starting with the first day, teams will be picking players in draft order from a pool of non-retained players and new rookies.

Each team will have one (1) pick in each round, with each round split over two nights. Each team will have set deadlines for their picks. Teams will be able to pick players up to a limit of ten (10) skaters and two (2) Goalies, until all teams have reached that requirement. Any team who reaches the ten (10) skater or two (2) Goalie limit can not draft a third (3rd) Goalie or an eleventh (11th) skater. Any team that has reached the limit of ten (10) skaters and two (2) goalies must surrender their pick until all teams have met the minimum requirements, at which time a team can use their remaining picks to select additional skaters.

Should a team not submit their pick by their assigned deadline, they will be marked as late and the next team in the draft order will pick. This can result in a team ending the day’s draft order with the last pick of the night. To avoid this issue, General Managers (GMs) are advised to submit a Draft Board to the commissioners so their team will be able to make their pick should the GM not be available.

The Draft will be 6 rounds. At the end of the last round, any players not drafted will be placed into Draft Free Agency , to be signed by teams in a ranked order of One (1) thru Sixteen (16) once per day as limits allow. Once all players have been signed , teams will be considered ready for the upcoming season, which is planned to start within one (1) week of the end of the draft.

We hope everyone is excited to see what happens in the FHL Draft, and are ready for the upcoming season!
