Before I get into this, I have some interesting news. I've never seen a Rambo movie. I can hear the audible gasps in the audience. Yeah, I know. Shocking. The reason I haven't is because I never had a chance to watch them. Either they never came up on TV or I keep saying I should, but always keep forgetting. Well, now that a new one just came out. I went out to see the first four just to see what I was missing the entire time. Before the I get into the newest one, I'll talk about the first four.

First Blood - Great movie. Probably one of the fewest movies that put the Vietnam War into a positive light and show what it's like for soldiers who came back from the war and how they were treated. I watched it twice in a row. I liked it that much.

Rambo: First Blood Part 2 - This is where the whole thing changes. The first one was an action flick, but it's more of a thinking movie about Vietnam, PTSD, as well as how the vets were treated. This one went from that to a straight up action movie. While I enjoyed it, I felt that this is where the studios wanted to make this a franchise and treat Rambo a action hero character rather than a sympathetic one.

Rambo 3 - Same thing as the second one. Just an action flick where you see Rambo go after Soviets instead of Southeast Asian soldiers.

Rambo - This one tries to put some politics in there along with some overthetop gore effects and such. Still a fair action flick if you like seeing this stuff.

And now the latest one. Rambo: Last Blood. Well, it's pretty much like the last one except not as violent or that much gorey. There's some overthetop scenes in there, but not as much as you think. They still try to put in the usual PTSD Vietnam vet theme like they did in the earlier works. But, doesn't work that well along with they typical overhetop gore action scenes as you would see in a Rambo movie. The first three were pretty violent, but they weren't gorey. The last two were. Why? I think it's because they can and try to put in on how bad the bad guys were.

Overall, if you are a huge Rambo fan. You would like this movie fine. But, if you're like me and think First Blood is a great movie and the rest went away with what the first one was about. Then, you wouldn't mind it much.
