Dark Phoenix - movie review by JohnStripedfur

I remember when they announced the first X-Men movie. I was in high school (showing my age) and I was really excited because I grew up with the animated series and I was a fan of the X-Men. When I saw it, I did enjoyed it but thought it's not the X-Men I wanted. And that's been my thought throughout the entire X-Men franchise. I wasn't a big fan of any of the X-Men movies. I did enjoyed all of them, but at the same time. I wish they were more from the comics. I know they have to do it differently and try to make them more realistic, but at the same time. I want them to be more like the comics. So, I wasn't too excited for Dark Phoenix, but as I saw from the promotions that it'll be more like from the comic storyline than the last time they tried. I went in with an open mind to see how they would do it.

The movie itself is pretty much just like any of the X-Men movies throughout the years. It is a little better, but that's not saying much. There are some stuff in the movie that is much like in the comic storyline, but it's still not an X-Men movie that I've wanted. The acting was pretty good considering the cast and so is the action scenes. But, overall. The movie doesn't deliver much. And that's the sad part since this is the LAST movie of the entire X-Men franchise.

The franchise as a whole has it's ups and downs. Some good ones, some not so good ones. For close to twenty years, this franchise was pretty much the only one that's a very inconsistent. I hope that since Marvel has the rights to them now, they would be able to finally do them right for once.

Overall, if you're a fan of the X-Men franchise, you can see it and enjoy some of the stuff they have in the movie.
