A good deed can go a long way. by RentonTBuck

At the church I work for, an unusual thing happened after the service was over.

An African-American woman in a motorized wheelchair came up to me as I was just pulling out of my parking spot in the church lot and she asked me for some cash. I don't normally give away money to random strangers, but it wasn't in my nature to be rude to her and just say no (especially because of her race). She claimed to love the church I work for and needed a bit of money for some basic grocery essentials (such as milk and bread), yet I had never seen her attend the church services before at all. Since it looked to me like she was pretty level-headed and not like a desperate homeless person looking for cash just to buy drugs later, I gave in and offered her $2, anyway, and she said, "Thank you, honey."

Even if my contribution was rather small, it looked like I still made her day better after doing a good deed for someone I never even knew.

A good deed can go a long way.
