RE: Missing Badges & TFF 2019 by JustNothing4321

Hello, everyone!

Again, I know it's been a while since my last post. Things have finally sort of calmed down enough for me to finally post an update.
First off, I want to address the Missing Badges I'd mentioned... wow... literally last year (April 13th, 2018). Good news: I found them. All of them. They were all in one place (in my room, in a folder with a few other traditional commissions I'd received during some convention possibly the year before. Why were they there instead of in the drawer with the rest of my badges..? My guess is that I put them away along with all the other Art I'd received after scanning and posting them online. I'm just glad I didn't lose them.

Speaking of commissions: How about that Art dump, huh? Sheesh! Sorry about that.. Don't worry, I'm done for today. I'm still waiting on a bunch of pieces from Artists I commissioned during both last year's AnthroCon and this year's Texas Furry Fiesta. I'll be posting those as I receive them. So stay tuned!

Texas Furry Fiesta 2019: Caine and I attended this year's TFF. Overall, we very much enjoyed our time at the convention this year. We got to hang out with friends (both old and new), the food trucks were yummy this year, and I had a lot of fun fursuiting. (: However, there were a few things Caine and I noticed were different/lacking this year as compared to the other years. So here's some critiques:

  • Organization - This year, TFF was a lot less organized than usual. 1. There was no mention of there being early entry/a line Sponsor/Super Sponsor line for certain events until the very last minute. Whereas, last year, it was stated in the Con book. 2. Staff was hardly around. We had to hunt one down if we had questions. And, if we did find one, most of them were ill-informed. Last year, everyone knew how things worked and there was always a Staff member around there/at the front of the line monitoring activity.

  • Room Locations - The best example is the Dealer's Den. Last year it was in one place, this year, it was in another.. And I feel so sorry for the Artists in the Artist Alley. They were located in an area of the building that received little to no signal at all, forcing them to go up and down the escalators/stairs if they wanted to make a transaction with a customer that didn't involve cash. Then they were given the option to pay $60 for internet service for the weekend. That's expensive when there's a chance you won't get a table the next day. Why not move the Artist Alley somewhere on the Lobby level?

  • Mobile Speakers - This was a huge annoyance for me. There seemed to be more people walking around with portable speakers hooked to their backpacks/belts than ever. It gave me a headache. Not everyone likes the same genre of music you do. Keep that to yourself/room parties.

  • Headless Fursuiters - This is one of my pet peeves. SO many Suiters walking around without their heads on. Why? Don't you realize that ruins the magic for some people? That's one thing EFCs (European Furry Conventions) had over AFCs (American Furry Conventions): The "Headless" Lounge (aka Fursuit Lounge) was the only place you were allowed to remove your head. They should really implement that rule here in the States.

  • Fursuit Dance Competition - I'm only mentioning this because of that fact that I absolutely LOVE the Fursuit Dance Competitions. This year, however, marks the first time I've ever left in the middle of a competition. It was just. That. Bad. The music.. The choreography.. Just Suiters throwing themselves around the stage. I do hope it's much better next year.

On a more positive note: The hotel was great and its Staff were amazingly friendly. I look forward to attending next year. That's all I've got for now. Until next time!
